I am currently using Apollo hosting for $20/month and part of the deal is that you can get free (no fixed cost) credit card processing via Authnet for about 3.5% and $.50 per transaction (starter package - prices drop with volume). All this for $20/month.

I thought about PayPal, but my personal experience is that I like the security of a credit card and with PayPal the customer has to set up the account (if they don't have one) which could cause the lose of a sale.

All that being said, does any one have any hard data, guesses, anything regarding numbers / percentages of people that would prefer a credit card over paypal or vice versa? xx% of people are exclusive paypal while yy% are exclusively credit card, and zz% are indifferent...

Also, I have my site http://thinkingparent.com in the 'site review section' for review. Any reviews / comments would be appreciated.

I use both but perfer Credit Card because it gives me more protection. Don't know if you have ever had anything in disputeon ebay but neither ebay or PayPal offer any real help. Yes you can buy insurance from both but it provides no more protection than using a credit card. With the credit card you can place a transaction in dispute and you get some action cause the credit card company will not pay the seller unless the situation is satisfied.

When we set up a client, I always tell them to sign up with Paypal & open up a bank account with jsut for Paypal. A lot of people keep extra money in their paypal account for spur of the moment buying.

Generally the "buzz" among the larger site owners is to use as many payment options as you can. Many "MA/PA" sites simply use PayPay for the affordability, which is fine. The typical percentages I have seen from sites offering multiple payment options posted in various forums look something like this:

Credit Card: 70% to 90%
PayPal: 10% to 20%
Cashiers Check/Money Order: 5% to 10%
