As this is my first website all is very confusing.

http://www.reiki-seichim-masters-australia.com
I am trying to get a higher ranking with the search "Reiki". Can anyone make some suggections. If I enter "reiki" into either google or yahoo I am nowhere to be found.
If I enter "reiki seichim" I am about 11th.
If I enter "reiki-seichim" I am 2nd.

Why is this so, and how would I increase my rating with "reiki"

Is it my meta tags, do I need more links? Help.
Steve

Go to www.submitservices.com and download a free copy of webposition gold if you don't already own it. Do a comparision between your site and the one you are ranking under. It will tell you exactly what you need to do. It could be lots of things such as relevency, frequency of the keyword in the body, the use of the keyword in a hyperlink etc. Perhaps an alt tag or two may need to be added. I would say you should try and rank higher for different words or phrases. I had to read your site to see what the word was or what it meant. Try and think like someone out there trying to find your site and what you have to offer and think of everyday use words that will work. Words that If I were just sitting at my computer might type in the search bar of a search engine.

Nicely done site by the way,

Your site looks very nice graphically, but it needs to be optimized. Read up on <H1 - 6>tags</H> amd the importance of ALT tags for all your images. Also some of your code may not be valid....I am far from html savy but I found this code:

</head>

<body link="#666666"><HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Tickie's Web Page Themes - Marble Angel</TITLE>
</HEAD>

You seem to have too many title, html and head tags on the same page. Try www.htmlcodetutorial.com for help on the tags. The word you want to target is not easy pickings - 2+Million entries - try targeting this word first : Reiki Australia - 50K entries. I could go on but all the info you need to get decent SE rankings is easily available - www.webMasterWorld.com is another forum that will help.

Adjust your headers like this...
1) lengthen you title a little and include "reiki" without the other word. you have a very weak and short title.
2) you have the word entirely to many times in your keywords...no more than 7 (I doubt if this is the problem though)
3) you have 2 titles.

It looks like the people that provided you with your template get the upper hand when it comes to content. go to:
http://usnet.tk/ and at the bottom it has a link that says "what the spider sees", and run your url through it. It says:
'Tickie's Web Page Themes - Marble Angel Graphics by Tickie's Web Page Themes Reiki & Seichim Healers of Australia We provide FREE LISTINGS to Reiki Healers in Australia. We can also supply you with YOUR OWN WEB PAGES , and we will do all the work for you. (check members pages for details) '

It is reading the second title, the first alt , then your blurb about providing web pages for free. This is not what you want...

peace...Paul
