No reply so long. In the meantime I have found a solution with 4 monitors, Matrox EpicA series graphics cards (http://www.matrox.com/mga/corp/epica/hardware.cfm).

Note: It is system dependent.

Their TripleHead2Go solution has won a lot of awards (http://www.matrox.com/mga/offhome/th2go/awards/home.cfm).

No, it is about productivity. Start by trying 2 monitors, and you may see the difference.

I do use 2 screens, I have Eclipse on my main screen and the browser open on the other so I can see the changes as I go along. I was only kidding about the geek thing... you have to admit though... 4 screens is pretty geeky :D

Have you ever visited a trading room? With 4 screens, you do not even get close to the information in front of a professional trader.

A word document on one screen.
An internet page on the other screen.
An open folder on the third.
A messenger session on the fourth.

The combinations are infinite.

I suppose there are applications for having 4 screens. Like stock tickers and other real time information. I've also seen multiple screens in NOC environments with security and network monitoring programs running on different screens as well.
