Back to this thread though, what I am refereing to is not directory links, but rather paid Text Link Ads on a PR8 page (not homepage).

Just my $.02...
How important is outbound page links?
- if you mean the page itself? then as long as that page has a nice PR, it should be worth it.
How important is relevance?
- All links matter (http://seoarticles.seoforgoogle.com/all-links-matter.cfm) - but the more topical the page you're getting linked from, the better.
Does it need to be homepage links?
- no, but that would be the strongest.
Were can you get them for best prices?
- Here are a few:

I paid for 6 month to have a link on a PR8 page!
Were my ranking affected in anyway? No
Was my PR affected in anyway? No
How long did this link take to show up on searchs?
about the 5th month
Did I drop this expense? Yes
Has dropping this link affected my rankings? No
You be the judge if you feel you want to pay for this link or not, personally operating a FREE link trade with similar sites will affect your ranking better than an out of pocket expense.
Good Luck

Golden Rule for Paid Links:
Buy links for the traffic/sales they can send to your website, not for SEO reasons. Sure you may gain some SEO benefits, but that should not even be considered when buying links. If start thinking "SEO" when buying links you will do more harm than good to your website in Google, long term.
I had heard such positive stories that I was almost convinced. Something though inside, told me that it is a waste of money.

Sorry you had to do the testing for me, but if already done I am happy that you told me in advance.

Well as a seller of pr links (pr4-pr6) most people buy links of me to get their site indexed faster
Some people's sites have had no affect
Some jumped pr
Some got more traffic
But at the end of the day, it all down to luck with buying text links, most my customer use my text ad space to get their site indexed quicker and for that, they usually are happy with results, I have really lost interest in trying to get higher Pr as I was given a site which has 2 links and is a pr6 (no its not fake) and Burf.com on the other hand has a lot of links and been around for years and is pr5.
Just does not make sense (the 2 sites are a lower pr)

The question is how will Search Engines know that you bought a link or the link was established naturally?

W3C has PR9 Links (http://www.w3.org/Consortium/sup) for $1000 a year.
Whats does Matt Cutts think (http://www.seobuzzbox.com/w3-selling-links/) about this?

Hello,
Speaking of buying links, is textlinkbrokers.com a good company to use?

I guess you can call them one of the leaders in selling links, but if I were you I would not even consider buying links now-a-days.
If you are to buy link make sure it is for the relevant traffic the website can send your way, not for PR or SEO reasons.

Scanmonkey what do you think about this?
We have implemented on our web site the Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P) (http://www.w3.org/P3P/), recommended by W3C.
Then we checked as required if it validates, and when we were done, we have submitted it to a W3C Admin, he validated it too, and then he have published our site on this page: http://www.w3.org/P3P/
If you look there, you will find on a list the name of our company "Webnauts Net", without a link, just hardcoded, and look at the Google directory here http://www.google.com/search?q=www.webnaut...p;cat=gwd%2FTop (http://www.google.com/search?q=www.webnauts.net&cat=gwd%2FTop)
What is W3C doing there? I don't get that.

I dont get the question Webnauts? Did you buy placement? I dont think so, so why would they need to link to you in that spot?

Jaan you are absolutely right. I do not buy or exchange links. They simply link to me while I have created and implemented a valid P3P, and therefore I could be listed there. Try it yourself man. :)

Are you really getting traffic from that link?? Its probably tough to track being that the user has to type or cut & paste your URL.
So do you know if you are generating traffic from W3C?
