If I move my site to a new server and have a new IP address will it affect my search engine ranking?
I read a post about this last week and can't find it any where. My hosting service is saying "no" but I recall strong evidence to suggest otherwise in the old post.
Thanks for your input.
It won't affect your ranking. There is a could chance that you will be totally dropped for a short time --> but should come back to where you were.

I changed hosting companies in December and there was no difference in my PR....
my only problem was to be down for a day or so, until the new IP propogated, but other than that, I saw no difference in my search engine ranking...

no, you shouldn't have any problem
you shouldn't even have any down-time.
There might be a few flickers of it during the propogation, but nothing major. As long as youo have access to the new server before changing the dns nameservers

Hi Friend,
As the given guide lines,
you will not face the problem, may be for short time you can face it.
One time i also face this type of problem, but within 3 days i was at my best position.

Just make sure you have your pages posted at both IP addressess and when the DNS changeover takes place no one will notice it. When your new IP address is solid, take down your pages at the old IP address.
