Flash web sites first and second for competitive keyword ???

Hi:

Greetings from Peru. I have made a search for LIMA HOTEL in Google. First appears www.nmlimahotel.com, whose only reason to be first is that the keyword is in the domain name (is it THAT IMPORTANT?). Elsewhere, they have very few links to them and lima hotel is mentioned at the bottom in text, but this text only has 10 words.

the 2nd is www.losdelfineshotel.com.pe/, which is also in flash and doesnt seem to even have the keyword in the (absent) text. Their links are poor, there is no keyword in the URL... what?

Any ideas? Our web, www.libertador.com.pe has better SEO but doesnt reach 1st places.

According to Yahoo, the first site you named has 422 links and yours has 400. I didn't take a look at where all the links were, but it sure seems that you need a few more links, especially since they have the advantage of the preferred domain. That'll boost their rankings automatically to some degree, because many people will link with anchor text of the domain to both of you, but that gives them an advantage.

As for the second, they've got some really good quality backlinks.

Third isn't a bad ranking, but when I check google.com from the US I don't see any of the sites you're mentioning here. I see enjoyperu.com, peru-hotels.com, and travel.yahoo.com as the first three. None of the ones you mentioned are on the first 3 pages of Google.com, so if you're targeting tourists you've probably got a lot more linkbuilding to do.

Backlinks ``traced´´ by Yahoo are also traced by Google?

Any help in quality backlinks are very welcome. I have indexed our site in may directories but they dont seem to get indexed in google.

Good to know that in google USA they are not in the first places. From here I can view google canada, UK, etc, but not US. If someone has any idea on how to view those results it would be great.

If you want to view google US, find a proxy server in the US and use it. That should allow you to see what's going on.

Google never shows all the links they know about. They show a subset, but MSN and Yahoo show many more - but those still don't show all the links they know about either. Nobody really does, because that's information that could be used to game the system.
