I have been trying very hard over the last year to get my site to rank well in the search engines, it usually seems like an uphill battle.

It seems like the most important thing for search engines and specifically google is one way inbound links. But how do you get links if you can't buy or trade them, since you don't rank well know one can find you to by chance link to you and even if they do if they don't happen to put just the perfect anchor text and location on the page it won't count.

Does any one have a good game plan for getting links cause i sure don't.

...Oh and if someone says something like "work on the quality of your content bla bla bla...and the links will follow" I not buying that because from what i have seen it seems like content is pretty much secondary to other factors.

Scott the best way to get quality IBL's is to never ask for them. They would come naturally because of your websites high quality, low prices, great content, etc. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but the days of buying IBL's or acquiring them is going to go bye bye some day, so just build the best website possible and put your offline marketing hat on and get to work.

I agree, building quality content that people will naturally link to. Writing regular blog posts or articles should also help as if people find it interesting there's a good chance they might link to it.

If you want to build inbound links to your site try these strategies.
1. write artilces for submission to artilce syndication websites.
2. Pay for inclusion in directories
3. submit to free inclusion directories
4. build another website on a different IP address and link to yourself.

To get quality oneway links, just update your content regularly; prepare blog on your site. Also add interesting & informative sections in your site, submit your site in directories. All these points will definitely help you in getting oneway links.
