Anyone else notice that the search bar is becoming the primary means of interaction with the internet. People have forgotten or just never know that you can type in an exact url and find a destination.

My brother to this day still "search's" for "obuweb" rather than go directly to our website.

A recent Pontiac commercial really drove this point home.
I blogged about it here (http://www.obuweb.com/news/2006/05/30/search-to-sales).

I have to disagree with this post.

You might want to check a few different server logs and do some more research about direct type ins before making that claim.

In fact if this were even somewhat remotely true, there would be very litte cyber squatting problems, and no parked domains with nothing but ads being displayed.

Have a good one

Primary may have been a strong word to describe it... but there is a definate trend toward "search" rather than direct type in. Esp. for the novice or beginning users.

I think technical folks or "old hands" at this know what they are doing.

However, when you see terms like Google or Yahoo being high up in the list of commonly used search terms, you know it's only because they can't be bothered or don't know how to type a URL.
