Hi all
I am determined to crack this logo and now I have 2 samples. The one on a white background (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v650/dvhdesign/logo2805smpl2.jpg) and the one on an orange background (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v650/dvhdesign/logo2805smpl1.jpg) (don't threat - this isn't me signifying my entire site will be orange).
Anyway which one do you prefer? Who knows maybe the winner will get his eyes back (I am referring to the butterfly) :)
I am only running this poll for a week.
Many thanks,

Hi Crush
I too thought orange. But I was concerned as it is quite a few colours. But with all my other attempts, I don't know anymore.
However, the actual butterfly prints beautifully on paper as well (in colour and black and white) which I am intent on the logo for both.
It obviously isn't complete (poor thing needs his feelers put back on) but it was just to give you a rough idea.
Thanks for that crush. :)

I would have to disagree... I think that the orange is too contrasting... The white background is much easier on the eyes. Have you though about making this a transparent gif to work on multiple background colors? Anyway, that's just my two cents...
What does the butterfly represent with DVH?

What I am thinking of is having the orange on the website and the white background for my letterhead/fax etc. Altho I like the transparent suggestion.

I'll answer that with having spiders and webs in a logo for a web designer is too cliched and lets face it - a bit naff (spiders and webs are horridly overused in the logos for most web design firms in Essex). For me a butterfly represents beauty and natural colour co-ordination (which looking at my previous efforts would make you chuckle).
When was the last time you told a butterfly "Your colours clash hideously. Try a nice claret or a Delicate lemon shade instead"? :)
And don't apologise for your 2 cents, parallel. Feedback is what I want (otherwise what is the point of this thread?). I know in the past I have sounded a bit defensive, but thats just momentary. If I have invented a logo thats pants, I want to be the first to know about it (and it just adds to my determination to get it right).

Before I looked, I was sure I'd prefer the white...I always tend to prefer simple and clean. I was surprised to find I preferred the orange. Both are very nice. It could go either way.

Well thats pretty conclusive. Errrm maybe not. :)
Well its a start. No one seemed to detest the logo this time.
Thanks all of you for your help. Whichever one I choose I shall have the common decency to put his eyes back on.

Hiya,
I have to say I think I prefer the orange! What I would reccomment is to create one that can be used on a multitude of backgrounds like parellelworlds said, because after months of pondering over our logo it will only go on white (grrrr!)
I do like the orange though - its a nice lively colour!
