Just had a look. Seems that Statcounter does not include ASK in its SE specific stats, only in referers.
Will you inform them and complain bitterly? (I am no statcounter customer).
Where does ASK advertise? Print? Websites? Got an example?
BTW: Stats are more "smooth" now, have you noticed?
Cheers,

Which just shows that ist is impractical to "optimise" for one engine only. I have always seen "SEO" from a "make your website spider-friendly" point of view, not from a "google/yahoo/msn-likes-bold-h1-tags-stuffed-with-keywords" angle. That way, you are prepared when the time comes - like now with ASK.

ASK are advertising on TV - loads of adverts and our enquiries are going up. I'll take it up with statcounter.

Ask is really a kick with there commercials on TV. It's going to be really interesting to see just how they play into the search engine game. SEO's should watch this one closely!

Although I don't have the luxury of watching much TV with too much work on the net and other places, ASK is really a kick with their commercials on TV!
SEO's should watch this one closely. It's going to be very interesting to see just how much of a run they give the other BIG search engines.

I said the same thing about All The Web 3 years ago. They got swallowed by Yahoo!
I predict the same thing will happen to Ask. Someone will swallow it eventually.

Its always nice to have alternative traffic sources.
Ask is worth looking into as traffic is traffic.

I'm not sure that Diller is looking to have it swallowed up. He seems set on making a 4th network of search. With him in the game and understanding a bit of his history, I don't think they're looking to just make a quick buck. I think they're in it for the long haul.

I agree with you. Any optimizing should be open and available to all engines. Ask is a good service.

Different people register info in different ways. Ask.com is simply an answer to a certain set of users.
I kinda like their ads, and their "tools" are fairly interesting. It'll be neat to see how much they grow.
One thing I do know is that they're doing the most important thing they can, getting talked about.

You know, I have only recently seen the commercial for Ask.com. Whatever happened to Jeeves, anyway??

ctabuk -- do you mean advertising with ASK or are you seeing success from their SE listings?
I do agree though, ASK has impressively stepped up to the plate over the past year.

That's a good question. I think losing Jeeves helped them though. It's more easier to remember 'ASK' than a 'ask - someone or other' site. Just when it was getting fun too, from all the Ask Jeeves parodies there were.
