Hi,
This is my first post, but I've been a lurker for awhile now. I must say the stuff I've learnt off here has helped me no end and its a really useful source in helping raise a sites profile.
I've been doing web design for about 5 years now, but in the last year I've moved heavily towards SEO with me now being employed by a company to concentrate on all aspects of their IT. Which brings me to a question that I don't think I've seen answered before.

As each page of a site contains different content, does it make any difference if the keywords are changed on each page also - making them more relevant to the content on that page. I've tried this theory for a few months and its amazing how different pages seem to appear in different positions. Up to this point I've changed two or three words per page but I'm starting to wonder if every key word should apply only to that page rather than the site itself. I know there are posts in here that say keywords aren't as relevant as they used to be but obviously I want to cover all aspects and just wanted some opinions on it.

Also, just wanted to say thanks to all of you that mentioned turning Googles Content Network off in PPC campaigns. I've ran a lot of different campaigns in the last 6 months for various companies and the difference in conversion rates is seriously noticable.

Anyway, hope someone can give me a pointer or two.

Kind Regards
Steve Bradley

We certainly optimise page by page, and it really does pay dividends. I've also discovered a bit of a 'cheek' thing really, I've added my forum username to each page. I'm not saying that it works, but it sure has not damaged anything. I just believe in name recognition.

Welcome Steve,

Just to add something further for clarification -- without assuming anything... Yes optimise 'keywords' in general for each page. Keyword tags on the other hand -- I wouldn't invest too much time in it. I wouldn't leave them out either, that's just me. But if you mean general keywords that may appear in your title, description and content, I would focus on those first.

That is aside from the most important thing however, which is a campaign for inbound links from other sites that contain those keywords, and point to the corresponding pages for those keywords.

ctabuk -- I couldn't agree with you more. Spot on.

Thanks. Sorry for the delay in replying, got a new job and with it inherited a group of sites to work on (and other IT junk I could have done without having to deal with). Lost this post and have just found where I posted this in the first place... I get sucked in reading all the new threads each day and trying various ideas that I keep forgetting to just ask.

Jawn_tech and Ctabuk your help is appreciated. Even if I'm a bit late saying so...
