Hello all,
I've created a blog in part to play around with SEO techniques for them. The blog is http://comehometotruth.blogspot.com. The topic is unification of the church.
Do any of you have techniques for optimizing blogs that differ from those used for traditional websites?
Thanks for the input!

One of the best optimizations I did for my blog was to move it off of blogger to wordpress and then use the subdirectory names correctly. blogger uses the /year/month/date/article-name-here which lowers keyword priority in the URL, which is a significant optimization point when closer to the domain name. Wordpress also has categories, which are nice "index" pages that are a tremendous benefit.

goodtimetribe has a good idea and the one I would go with.
If you already have your domain and a webhost, why not download one of the many free, open-source blogs floating around.... Wordpress is a good choice

We rank just fine using blogger. The only change we made was to host the blogs on our own domain. Blogger allows you to host your blog anywhere you'd like if you change the "advanced" features.
My blog is just over a month old at this point and I'm seeing decent rankings for just about every post that I've done in Google and MSN. Yahoo is a bit behind in indexing, but they're starting to get better.
