View Full Version : Unnaturally inflated Overture keyword counts?

Does anyone know if the use of a serp tracker (like WebPosition) unnaturally inflates search counts from resources like Overture?

I check the "Keyword Selector Tool" at http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/rc/srch/ every once in a while to see what keywords are worth optimizing for, possible niche markets to expand to, etc. My interest was piqued when I entered the term "custom rubber stamp" and see a related search of
"custom custom custom custom rubber ruber ruber ruber stamp stamp stamp stamps.info" - this term supposedly had 613 searches in November 2005. Not exactly something Average Joe will search for.

So, question #1: Unnatural inflation caused by serp trackers?
#2: Is some idiot querying on a meaningless series of terms in a serp tracker, or is this odd result caused by something else?
#3: Is there a better/more accurate keyword tracker to use than Overture?

I don't pay attention to the numbers as much as I pay attention to their correlation to my broader keyphrase of "rubber stamps."
