One site I like is http://www.htmlguru.com/guru.html
It doesn't do much but it's cool to look at and play with. And for those interested, there is some pretty amazing code in there

I can't see a thing wrong with this site, it's pastoral, warm and very friendly, as well as being a contender for having the most interesting navigation I've come across. Period.

Sometimes web sites are verry nice and "the most beautiful WebPage". But even with a high ranking and a good seo whats the content of that site. Is this site given the information where people are looking for or only give them a good looking keyword ritch site whitout special content. Special flash, special lay out, beautiful design, but a never come back site if there is no good content.

I've visited all the above links, and to tell the truth, I'm not a fan of flash design. Takes too long to load. I prefer the simpler pages. If I go to a site, it's usually for the content, not the flash. It's just my opinion, mind you ....

The real money is with the big boys, and they hire top of the line pros to build the best.
I've linked to many of these sites, but the best are the ones where your can get flash and downloads as well.
Here are a few. CAUTION! Many of these sites have POP-UPS!

I like this one: Mirabella Mansori Day Spa (http://www.mirabellamansori.com)
I must admit that we built it (http://www.reddoor.biz), but I really do like it and the client gave us good feedback and a great brand to work with.

This one does it for me - seems to create an almost cinemagraphic quality -- brings self opiniated web designers back down to earth too - turn up your volume for it :-)

Of course in my case a little bit depressing when I look at my own humble efforts on www.curioshop.co.uk
but then our stuff's in much better taste darlings . . .

The best site I ever seen is www.webproworld.com
Why, because it brings us together in a mysterious way. Let me put it this way, how many similar sites you see everyday? Quite a lot and all provide fruitful information free. However, we take those benefits individually. The WebProWorld is different and makes visitors to be a part of the progress. Encouraging taking responsibilities and caring for each other. The site is young, but folks behind it are either very much experienced or genius. Maybe both! Never mind, I was just trying to express my appreciations …

I agree, Sites look much better without all of the flash. I have cable modem and it still takes a long time to load. When I come across sites like that, I just click X and off I go to another site. Simple is better.

We all know that in the world of professional business sites fast loading function and content is king. However, that was not the topic of the question asked. The question was which are the most beautiful sites disregarding functionality, download times, even navigation. It's a question of art, not function.
I used to seek out those sites in my early days of design for inspiration. I've long since shifted to the technical side of things. Trying to find those types of sites now I don't know where to start. This forum is exactly what I need to spark my imagination.
Keep em coming.
Thanks,

I have to say, that I was rather impressed when I came across this site, well actually not the site but the image itself, unfortunatly is seems not to be working:(
www.cathedralstone.net sorry if you don't get as impressed as I did about 2 years ago when I first saw it (I think it was 2 years ago)
As for colors, designs, latout, and other varibles, nothing too note worthy. maybe http://www.fantasiaonline.com but thats because I'm a dragon freak, unfortunatly theie site isn't very well taken care of either.
Figures, my favourites are both not working

http://www.widegroup.net/ is one of the best designed sites i think i have seen. I really dislike flash for the most part, but the little smiley face and buttons and such really float my boat. The navigation after the intro is a little lacking, since it jumps around and makes you feel like its hard to click on, but other than that the color scheme is good, the content is alright and the flow is pretty fun.

I would just like to say that having visited a number of the sites recommended to be viewed, the ones that I was able to look at were really good to view.
A word of warning to those that I was unable to view!!
I disable cookies and ActiveX controls when browsing and guess what, it saves me from a lot of hassle but it also means that I do not even get to see your front page. So all your hard work and creativity has been wasted. Think of all the visitors you have lost.
Apart from that there are some great sites out there, so lets keep the individuality alive. Anything is in if you like it and out if you do not. Democracy still rules

Both the intro movies i really liked, tho a little fast moving. You should try both of the options: Corporate and Digital Motion.. both have good layout, design and flow

Maybe this topic should be divided into Flash and non-flash.
I prefer to look at sites that demonstrate what can be done with tools other than Flash, since I'm never patient enough to let it load no matter how pretty it is.
Viewing sites is like browsing a newspaper, where you skim for what is interesting. But Flash sites are more like TV, where you are served information with no choice but to wait for it to be served.
Flash sites do not have to be slow loading, most sites like to load around the 30 second mark, I am sure most people switch off if it takes over these times?
I am submitting a template I made in swish
( swf.file) as I like the colors in it.
http://www.warragul.au.bz/ballerina.html
it loads fairly fast and is all a swf.file
Its good that we all have different tastes what a world without that ?

As a webmaster for some small, simple sites done on my older computer, I am unable to view the newer high powered sites because of the flash plug-in I don't have. I can't download it because my system is too old. I could update, but I continue to drag my feet on this computer. I think some of my others can view the sites.
I wonder how many people are in the same boat.

I like http://highlandlilac.com/. I live in Rochester, the home of the Highland Park Lilac Festival and this site captures the feeling of that perfectly.
It's also a successful ecommerce site, selling lilac perfume to customers around the world.
This site was one of the most important factors in my joining BizNetix - besides looking great, it was very easy to optimize (no Flash).

I guess I might be cheating a bit here, but one of the sites that I have worked on since 98 has many people writing to us saying that they love the site, especially the content, (no flash) I believe that the easier the site is to get around the more people will visit.. 'if you build it they will come' The site is a specialized one only people interested in the subject will visit but there are lots of those. Anyway just my 2 cents worth........

Hi,
There is always the 'To Flash or not To Flash' dilemma but for a short time, put this aside and take a look at the developments at Derbauer. These people throw bandwidth to the wind and give you some of the most impressive flash ever seen on the web.
One of their best pieces of work IMHO is Derbauer II which can be found at http://www.flash4all.de/productions/OLD/derBauerII.htm. To have a look at their other work then go to www.derbauer.de.
Accessibilty, cropped graphics and slim soundbites there is not...an impressive display of the power of Flash there is...
Enjoy

I might be the person who made this site (http://members.lycos.co.uk/dancedevils7), but for a 15 year old's first site, I think I have done a pretty good job. Check it out and email me (mailto:dancedevils@ntlworld.com) with comments or post them in my guestbook. Also check out the markup while you are there.

CSSzengarden.com/ is a definite must. I had seen this site before, fallen for it, and not been able to find it again - thanks JayDrake!!! With a simple click, you can see the same content but with a differerent css applied. And they are ALL good work. I tip my hat to these designers.
For a flash site - you must see www.pucci.com - They have a non-flash option but I've been blown away by the colour and vibrancy of the flash side. Colours, sounds - it's a nice site.
(Not as useful or even as fun as csszengarden but for eye/ear candy - Pucci's got it.)
Have a great day!

Much to my delight one day, I came across a website studio (not mine, darn it!) who seems to specialize in incredibly attractive sites - without much, if any, Flash. Check out their portfolio and be sure to see the sites full size. I think you will agree that they easily qualify, both in appearance and content presentation.

Quick note: the scripts on the portfolio page might load very slowly, so be patient if you have dial-up, the wait is worth it.

IMO this wont happen. VRML (and the like) came and went. 3D may look pretty but its hard to access large volumes of data as compared to streight text. I think Flash 3d Effects are about as far as we will go with 3d.
