I have one question. My company created educational materials and was the first to publically offer them on our web site.

I heard when you publically and legally offered anything on the web site, you get priority copyright.

Am I missing something? Please advise.

If you can establish that you were using it first, then yes.

My suggestion to you would be to do as I always do: any time I make a significant change to, or a whole new, website, I burn the entire contents of my work onto a CD, head down to the post office, and mail it to myself in a sealed envelope.

Don't break the seal of the envelope; just keep it sealed up with the postmark date in case you ever need it in court.

(It's supposed to be notarized by a lawyer, but I never really saw how that was necessary as long as it were sealed.)
