Basically the title of my thread is the question. I almost danced the dance of joy this morning when I saw my site is back on page one from page 11 for native american jewelry. I hope this is where it levels out. This Jagger thing has been dreadful for our site. Nicci

Well you're one of the lucky ones, I just lost a client because of Jagger. Thank you very much Google! We had top 10 ranking for the most competitive terms, then suddenly wham, it's all gone and this morning client asks me for his October reports... well, not the most detailed explanations of algorythms and cosmic influences could convince them otherwise.
I felt like an ass who doesn't know what he's talking about while all our other SEO sites continue to do exceptionally well!
I'm just real miserable about this now.

I own a small Web/Graphic Design/Marketing company in Southern Indiana. Before this Jagger effect took place, our company site (www.harmonydesign.biz) listed in the top spot for our business name, Harmony Design. Now you can't find mention of our site until page five, which in reality is an advertisment we did through worldpages.com. I didn't bother to go any further. Talking about disturbing.
I would really like to get a grasp of what is going on here. This is also affecting our SEO and internet marketing for some of our clients. I hope this growing pain for Google has a logical and beneficial outcome.

DataCenter: 66.102.9.104
Search Phrase: Harmony Design
Position: 747
DataCenter: Google.com
Search Phrase: Harmony Design
Position: 746
The position may be off up to +5 or -5 considering it couldnt be viewed on google at 10 results a page.
The only link to you that I would wonder about is http://www.backstir.com
To the human eye it's duplicate content. To google I wouldnt think that only being duplicate images and very little text would matter. It couldnt hurt to set it up a little different than you main site.
I went through all of your inbound links to your main site and found absolutly nothing harmful to your rankings. I also live in southern indiana and about 1 hour from you. You have some great clients setup for yourself. Congrats!
Maybe you or someone else has a different take on this, but i dont see Harmony Design in either one of these nor is it in the top of you page using on-page text.

As far as your ranking. I just dont see you staying where you are. These are a few things to look at later if you still end up having trouble after Joker3 has come and gone.
On another Post here (http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?p=259410&highlight=#259410) you asked about HarmonyDesign.com
They did use thier keyphrase in thier metatags.
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="Harmony Design is a Palm Desert Area Web design and Web development firm offering graphic design, e-commerce, Internet marketing, and database programming. We deliver effective solutions that add significant value.">

Your keyword density for the word Harmony is low and the word design looks perfect.
(harmony)Yours 2.28%
(harmony)Thiers 4.12%
Between 5 and 7 is good. 5% is ideal
With the exception of title and metatags.
We should get together somtime and go over a few things. You might enlighten me on a few things as well. Theres some things I wont go into in a public forum.

I'm not out of the woods yet. My other keywords are still crap. I am so freaked to think this could continue to happen and maybe not repair itself, but I've resigned myself to being patient until the dust settles and then doing whatever the experts here advise. Good luck to you, too!

You couldn't have said it better!
How do you face them then? You have poured your heart, soul and own time out without charge, and then you get slam=dunked without provocation!
Just plain nasty!
In all the past updates it was easier to call the problems - Not this time...
I changed "camps", with this one!

I invented one Susan. You can use it if you like.
I manipulated a site call prsearch.net and just added the data center in the form for submission. It searches within the first 1000 results and may be off a bit from the result it shows. Maybe +/- 5. Thier script searches for sites by the 100's rather than 10 per page, so that is why it is a bit off.
http://www.horsesearchengine.com/jagger/
Once you see the results you will have to go back to the form to try another. If you continue on prsearch then you will be using google.com only.
I have a php script to make my own, but I didnt really have time to mess with it.
Hope that helps

Let’s see. Multiple data centers are now showing Jagger2, but I don’t think every data center is. I believe Jagger2 is at the cluster of data centers that includes 66.102.9.104. Stephen, I don’t think we support crawl-delay in robots.txt. But you might check out sitemaps–it might allow you more control.
Paul, the objective of Jagger is to improve our index results. The three stages are actually three independent launches.
urdudesamy, there are some Jagger1-related changes going on at 66.102.7.104.
------
66.102.7.104 Matt Cutts says that datacenter shows Jagger1 results and I am #4 great yes, BUT 66.102.9.104 I am on God damn page #3. What this says is I got hosed by jagger #2 correct?
Can someone help this newbie find the most current datacenter, please?

The current data center is the one being displayed. The only one that matters since that's all the searchers see. I know it's not what you wanted to hear.
There's an extreme amount of flux in the data centers right now. Dagger1 working with Dagger2 and enter Dagger3 who doesn't like Dagger1 so Dagger2 tries to mediate... yada, yada, yada. We can watch data centers til our eyes bleed.
My advice, besides working your website(s) they way you would normally... get a bigger hammer and WHACK something really hard. (not your fingers, makes you invent new words)

Well, I'm confused for sure. I've stayed away from all of this for a few days - the stress was just eating me up so I took a break (hey, not much I could really do besides complain anyway, right?)
So, tonight I check McDar and I got this for our most broad/generic keyword:
64.233.161.104 - (4) DCs ! Not Found
64.233.167.104 - (2) DCs 283
64.233.171.104 - (4) DCs 129
64.233.179.104 - (2) DCs 129
64.233.183.104 - (3) DCs 265
64.233.185.104 - (2) DCs 129
64.233.187.104 - (4) DCs 129
64.233.189.104 - (1) DCs 49
66.102.7.104 - (4) DCs 49
66.102.9.104 - (2) DCs 292
66.102.11.104 - (2) DCs 292
66.249.87.104 - (2) DCs 265
72.14.207.104 - (1) DCs 131
216.239.37.104 - (4) DCs 284
216.239.39.104 - (2) DCs 284
216.239.53.104 - (2) DCs 49
216.239.57.104 - (4) DCs 49
216.239.59.104 - (3) DCs 292
216.239.63.104 - (3) DCs 49
Hmmm, back up to 49 on some dcs and not even found on another? I know they vary, but I've never seen this much variance before. Are others seeing anything like this?

hoptoo - anyone wants to place any bets?!! ;-)
greeneagle - I'm going to tell them I'm willing to continue doing SEO for up to a month without charge, just to prove to them that this was all because of an update. By then things should have turned around. We've done most of the ground work, so the results should start to show soon (when someone (SE) pulls their finger out their behind!).
The client now suddenly also says he doesn't need SEO since he's been getting good returns on his Adword campaigns (after we optimised his keyword pool of course!). Anyway, I'll sit tight on this one (I'm strapped in for the ride) and continue making sure we keep it all fresh...

If he needs proof of the calamity, send him to the forum. He can read post after post about the hysteria this has caused. I realize you can't do this. :)

Hi
Thanx for the support! The site still shows variable results in different data centers. Still hovering between the 80's and 100's for top keywords. This update is still in progress, can it be?!!
MtraX
MtraX,
I think your employer is wrong to spout off and his reaction to the result of this update is flying in the face of reality.
If you work "in house" it would be easy to show anyone there. Emailing a link wouldn't work because of the login on this or any other good forum.
Good luck with these guys...probably only look at a couple of stats too I bet.....how many visitors.....referring source...and how much $$$ this week.
That's sure a "penny cheap but a dollar short" approach to take with your people!
BTW, ldylion214,
I like your blog a lot. You have done one thing I've been afraid to do - link my related blog (I also have same url as the domain of the store w/o www - and linked back!) It's being spammed to death by commenters leaving their darn SPAM links to totally irrelevant sites. I hate that! You ought to delete them all and turn on the word verification feature - works like magic.

MtraX,
I went from page 11 to page one back to page 9 tonight. The fact that I was number one for 2 yrs doesn't help. This stuff is seriously messing with my head. I feel like I need to step away from my site for a while until this settles into whatever it's settling into. Grrr....
cz,
It's funny you mentioned this. I just did that a few days ago. It was driving me nuts but someone told me how to do it. I actually am pretty green when it comes to the blog. Thanks for nice words. I actually find myself slipping on the blog. I've been trying to keep it going.

I've gone from page 1 to page 3 overnight for the keyword motorcycle insurance and dropped a couple of places for scooter insurance (for my site www.choicequote.co.uk)
This is doing my head in! It's a critical time of year for my company and this is just not helping!
Does anyone know if this is going to resolve itself or are we all going to have to discover whatever it is that Google now wants from us?
MtraX
11-07-2005, 04:45 AM
I really feel for you Nicci! I understand that normal variation in rank comes with the 'Internet territory', but this is plain rediculous! CZ, it's a client, not my employer and they've been burned badly by another SEO company in the past. This was the last straw and we were in the hot seat unfortunately. I won't take it personally though since we did all we could to improve the site quality/ranking (as with other sites that had success). The problem is that they're doing their own PPC and are buying advertising on a bunch of sites all the time without consulting with us. I'm seeing the referrals on the stats all the time. Ranks are still shot in Google...

We crashed on some terms, stayed on others, rose on a few, but sales / traffic remained the same. I guess that's why we've got that AdWords safety net in place and other engines that like us.
