Google Suggest, in mind reader twin soul fashion, will finish your sentences for you. But you may be shocked when those sentences finish as racist remarks echoed by millions of others.

The blogger who pointed this out admits it’s not Google’s fault. It may just be an enormously telling reflection of the global society.

Google Suggest (http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en), an artificial intelligence application that offers suggestions for finishing search queries, is suggesting some pretty awful endings for phrases like “blacks are…” “whites are…” “Jews are…” “Americans are…” et cetera.

“What percentage of the web is related to sex, crime, slander, and racism? What percentage of blogs are bias, and rant based?” asks blogger “questsin” at questsin everything blog.

The answer may be higher than you think. With gripping evidence, questsin captured screenshots (http://questsin.blogspot.com/2005/06/google-suggest-racism-in-machine.html) of the prejudiced suggestions.

We’ll close with questsin’s comments on the matter.

“Its not my intension to bring grief to Google. Google is not to blame. They are only the medium we are the message."

It looks that Google did not apply any filters to their program.

Usually they provide the option where you can set your own filters while searching, in the preferences.

SafeSearch Filtering ( which provides the following options:

Use strict filtering (Filter both explicit text and explicit images)
Use moderate filtering (Filter explicit images only - default behavior)
Do not filter my search results.

What google should do is to turn the default filter option (safe results on), so unless people wish to turn them off on thier search results themselves, it should filter this content.

They are only the medium we are the message.

This is the point, Google did not search for these words, we did, so if anyone is to blame, it is we the people who are racist, biast etc. etc.
