View Full Version : google problem
Hi everyone
Just joined here and was wondering if anyone can help.
I developed a site (http://www.friendsormore.co.uk) which has been on the web for about 5 months. Initially the site was on about page 12 of Google.
Now its is not in the first 50 pages. The same thing has happened on a few other search engines too.
We havent done anything to the site to cause this. Anyone got any ideas as to why we seem to have been penalised by Google ?
Apologies if this is a silly question !
Happy New Year all
What makes you think you are penalised? You have PR=4
You are ranked number one for friendsormore
What keyword do you want to rank for? The keywords in your meta tag are very very very competitive.

thanks for the reply
I am not really sure what PR means, an explantion would be great :)
Going back about 4 weeks if I typed in 'Find friends' we were actually listed on page 3 of Google and page 1 of Yahoo, now we are not even listed within the first 50 pages. This is what I cant understand
I know we ranked 1 if you type in 'Friendsormore' but this is a search term that people are unlikely to use. I also understand that the keywords we have used are very competetive

Dating agencies also took a real hit in the November 03 GOOGLE Dance!
Frankly, I am surprised that you have at least 2 pages ranked PR4 including your "home" page - Count some blessings, now!
Other SEOs offering free help in these threads might be able to offer better advice.
But, you might try:
1. Adding GOOGLE Adsense to all pages - (Let it cost your competitors if they come up against you)
2. Do a search on your key terms and follow the industry leaders by clicking on the "Adsense" ads to learn what you are up against with the money monglers!, before you join adsense.
I am sure that you can get much more advice from the "knowing" in this area of expertise on WPW!, if you do not get the response you want rephrase your thread and resubmit until you get the response you need.
Hope this helps,
Ken
again thanks for the reply :)
I am still unclear as to what PR (i guess its page rank) means and what effect this has
