Hi all,

I have recently put my site online, and after just a few weeks I was listed in google. I was just about in the top 150 which sucked, but at least I was on there. However, I recently had another look on goole, and was damn confused as to why my site was no longer present. If I type in the full address, my site is there, so it is partially indexed, but I would like to know if any of you have experienced any similar problems, if so - please tell me about them, and the solutions...

Thanks a lot

Your industry is a very competetive industry, and recently Google has dropped about a million pages from their index (mostly affiliate site with duplicate content, which doesn't seem to be the case in yours.)

There could be several reasons for this drop. If you are linking outbound to anyone spamming that is something Google is penalizing you for without a doubt. You would need an in depth site analysis to be sure.

Your header info looks good. They first thing I would do would remove all that Java and call it from an external file, and tell the spiders not to index it. This helps from a SE standpoint and user standpoint (faster download since it caches in the browser). Then try and rearrange some things. Your actual content is so far down the HTML it may carry less weight.

If you would like more info on external Java or CSS techniques, lots of people on here can help or you can PM me. (it's fairly easy, but I always mention since I never know anyones skill level - no offense intended if you already know)

Hope that helps a little.

Aaron

Hi Darren
A quick check in Google indicates that Google has not yet spidered your site and only knows about your URL.

The index page seems to spider OK, so its not spidering problems, could be that you don't yet have any inbound links recorded in Google. Google will sometimes index a page and then drop it later if it does not find any links to that page in its index.

Did you submit this site to Google or did they find it themselves?

I did submit my site a few times. But I was actually listed before, and now I can only find my URL, not the title and description like before!!

Very strange!

Thanks for your reply

Darren.

Darren - as Mel stated, Google has just now learned of your site. You are going to see it move up and down, in and out for a little while. This includes seeing your pages being dropped and picked up again.

He also mentioned that the lack of external links pointing to your site will more than likely drop your site from Google's index. One thing that will get it noticed more by Google is external links. You need to start building them up. Over time your site will take hold.

Be patient and good luck!

Well, a number of people inside and outside of this site have given me similar advice. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to read my problem and sharing your knowledge.
