As I was working on my Tip of the Week for MSN Search Watch (http://msnwatch.blogspot.com/) I noticed something quite odd.
When using the Results Ranking modifiers found in the Search Builder, the paid advertisements do not appear at the top of the query results. Is this just an anomaly or intentional? What would be the purpose of not including these ads intentionally?
Here are some links for you to test on:
Control Result: water (http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=water)
Freshness Result: water {frsh=100} (http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=water+%7Bfrsh%3D100%7D)
Popularity Result: water {popl=100} (http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=water++%7Bpopl%3D100%7D)
Match Result: water {mtch=0} (http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=water+%7Bmtch%3D0%7D)
Any ideas?
