I'm a Web Developer/Designer for Custom Information Services (CIS). Two months ago, both our Marketing and Sales departments agreed that an update was badly needed for our, nearly, three-year old website. I was happy because the update would enable me to implement SEO techniques that were harder to add to the old website.

After optimizing and finalizing the new website's design, content, webpages, etc..., I made our new site (which can be seen at (www.customis.com)live two-weeks ago. I also begin re-submitting the website's pages to the major (as well as lesser known) search engines.

Since our www.customis.com domain is already listed on most search engines, how do I get these search engines to update and list the new website and its new pages faster? I want to make sure we maintain the same traffic volume we were receiving on our old website. I know Google and Yahoo! have or had something, but I'm not sure. Please give me your input and tips if you have anything.

Thanks for your time,

Valerie

Did you change page filenames? If so, redirect from the already indexed filenames to the appropriate new filename (some form of 301 permanent move).

Probably the fact that you added a link to your site here, will do you more good than re-submitting to the search engines. This forum is indexed often, so you've put the ball in motion.

And minstrel is right, make sure you use a 301 redirect on any pages that don't exist anymore. You don't want to lose human visitors or spiders!
