Make Money through Website Creation

This concept is new to me, but seems like a good idea. I am a college student, and like most other college students feel, cash would sure be nice. I have a website, but a very frugal visitorbase.. so working off that site is probably not worth it. I was basically lookin for some intro reading (free) on making money through affiliating. My goals are to make 2k a month by october, and 5k a month by june next year, is this possible? If so, is it probable? How should i start?

Frugal visitors like DEALS so you could try adding some coupons from some affiliate programs that would interest your visitors.

Building a site from scratch and making 2K by Oct is a stretch IMHO, BUT< BUT <BUT it totally depends on how good you are at site building, SEO and picking the right affiliate programs. If you are starting at ground zero, you have a lot to learn and a lot of trial and error ahead of you. Not trying to be negative - just realistic. I have affiliates making over 10K a month, but that's after lots of work and/or because they or highly skilled and/or have lots of PPC money to work with.

There is no one path or book that's right for everyone and teaches you step by step, especially for free. Here is a good thread to help get you started.

I started making about $3000 a month 4 months after I started, but didn't realize that some of methods were black hat until I started hanging out in the forums.
By that time, Google banned the site. Now I am working my way back up to about $2000 a month.
I hope to see more in the future through valid SEO techniques.
To me the hard part is learning the techniques and trusting them enough to put a site out there and then wait for months for the results.
To others, the actual work is hard. But I enjoy it.
Did I mention I spent about 2 years trying everything until I found a few things that worked for me?
