More and more buzz marketing advertising strategies are being put in place by various sites, small and large, in order to maximise and expose their services or products via the use of Viral Marketing.

The Atlantic Tunnel viral message is probably one of the best examples of this kind of strategy. The media company who launched this “buzz”, translated the site into various languages including French (http://www.Transatlantys.com), the story has even been republished on MSN France (http://www.msn.fr/transatlantys/). This just goes to show how powerful this kind of strategy is.

You will have most likely come across the SMS.AC site who launched a viral e-mail marketing campaign in order to gain new members. Mozilla Europe have also set up 3 videos with the purpose of promoting the browser in Europe, the stats show that with very little work the videos have already reached a great number of internet users.

All this leads to my question ;-) What are your most memorable buzz marketing campaigns? What do you think are the best effective buzz marketing strategies? Have you got any buzz marketing resources to share?

Do let me know,

Thanks

I'd be interested in hearing more about this too.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Some years back - circa 1998 - I had my main pages translated to Simplified Chinese and Japanese.
The Japanese cost me only the task of polishing the language and grammar of the english version of a Japanese contact's website I had met on the net.

Those translations netted me a few sales in both countries. However, I found the difficulty of maintaining the sites re. broken links etc. just too daunting and gave the exercise away after a few months.
While I used to be able to converse to a limited extent in Japanese I certainly could not write it. :)
