Hi,
Would any one have a suggestion for a merchant account or shopping cart that would calculate international exchange rates and foreign shipping costs? I do get some foreign orders, but very few and I don't think they know exactly how much they are paying for the product. I am about to add a software product that will be more directed to an international audience, and anticipate more international orders.
I would also like a Merchant account, gateway processor and shopping cart that are better interrelated than what I have going on now. They don't seem to work very smoothly, and I am never sure who is responsible for what part of the problem.
Thanks in advance. Caren

I agree, the one you are currently using is a bit clunky and lacks features.

I always recommend www.oscommerce.com shopping cart and www.worldpay.com for payment processing.

For shipping, you're best to find a cart that has a flexible shipping module of which oscommerce has.
Then you can designate which product should cost what for where you're sending the product.

As for exchange rates? not quite sure what you mean here. How many different currencies do you plan on charging in ? You may be better off just charging in US funds -less complicated

I know what you are talking about Caren. I have been to a few sites that calculate the rates, unfortunately I cant remeber which ones they are to give you the name of the script. There werent many of them unfortunately.

As Cyanide said, more often than not rates are usually executed in US $$'s. I personally dont like this practice, because it denotes that the US $$ is 'the' international currency.

However, if you cant obtain a scipt to do what you want, then I would definately suggest having a currency convertor on there or a link to one.

Most US merchant accounts can handle the international exchange rates, no problems. But one thing to keep in mind - the exchange rates are constantly changing. So for example, if they purchase something for $100.00 from you at this time & they are using the Euro the total is $80.55. But when you close out the batch tonight, it might be $81.00 or it might be $80.00

As far as international shipping, there are a few hosted carts that connect with the UPS API & can be programmed to handle that type of transaction as well.
