Hi i am a newbie trying to set up a home network i have one computer with windows 2000 and another computer with windoes xp and i would like for me to be able to share a internet conection (Cable) i have cat5 Wire runing to both computeres and a LINKSYS router
Could Any one Please Help ME???

The default settings on your router should be set to have a DHCP. All you really need to do is plug them in. Make sure you have the computers set to obtain all information automatically.

Yes, it's pretty easy,
Aside from what redcircle said, make sure internet sharing is turned on (Network and Dial-up Connections)
If you're still having problem, make sure any firewall you're using is turned off (this won't have an effect on the Internet, but it will with file sharing between both computers)

not sure what you mean by "turned off" - don't you just add computers on the network to the "trusted zone" or "safe zone" in the firewall?

There is no need for internet connection sharing because the linsys router is what does the sharing/DHCP etc.
