View Full Version : I can't believe how fast they are updating their data base!

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, MSN continues to amaze me.

Just added a subdomain to an already exsisting indexed site so I knew it would get indexed fairly quickly, but I thought it would take a few weeks to see it.

#1 for main key word in 2 DAYS! That's fast!

I don't doubt what you're saying. Congratulations on your ranking success! MSN is amazing, with a steadily growing index (as it appears). That's why I've always said that MSN is the one to watch, and starting this year I think we'll see some major growth in their loyal patron base. I know they're still not driving the same amount of traffic as Yahoo for some sites, while just a tad more for others, but they are taking all the right steps to be a contender for a number 2 spot I think, and who knows what else in the future...

Yeah, I'd agree. MSN Search is pretty good, but I think I'll remain loyal to Google, as I know millions of others will.

As it stands, they are the market leader by a vast majority, and I'm not convinced even Microsoft can flatten them. As for Yahoo, MSN will probably have them covered in under 6 months.

I was impressed at first but recently several sites have lost MSN ranking so wondering what's going on over there

MSN is making a good and fast work also for me and my sites.

It indexes many of my websites and shows them with a very high SERP too.

I will keep an eye on their services in the future hoping it will bring good traffic.

I'm sure it will.

Remember, MSN roll out their services across all the platforms they have to offer - for instance, people using MSN Messenger might also do a web search using the integrated search bar, or the "Today" window.

MSN have tons of resources, and their new search engine is evidently becoming popular simply because of availability. This is definitely not one to ignore.

As I said at the start of this thread, they are impressive, and don't forget, all the NBC properties use MSN search as well, MSNBC is a huge site and NBCi is another, shopNBC all the NBC properties.

We get lots of traffic from MSN and the traffic we get has a good conversion ratio. They are becoming a strong search presence, that's for certain.

I am very sorry you're having that trouble. You seem to be the exception. I can't imagine why they are overlooking your site.

Just as an experimnt, I decided to try a real easy, (non competitive) keyword change to see how long it took.

I was number one on Google two days later for "Anything and Everything Kelowna". (I think number 4 a week ago)
Congrats on the MSN ranking, but I think it is a matter of luck and timing more than anything.

I have always ranked higher on MSN than Yahoo which is higher than Google still. This only makes sense, I suppose due to different emphasis and sophistication of search indexing algorythms.

Haha, it is so much different than even a year ago, I have to learn all this stuff again :O)

Google? Who's that LMAO

Seriously though I gave up on Google long ago as there is no rhyme or reason to their listings.

Lol.

Although I think it would be more advisable not to give up completely.

Whilst SEO is incredibly difficult to wrestle with (increasingly so), it is worth putting in the effort.

Despite other people's opinions, I maintain my view that search engine rankings are the most valuable traffic-generating assets a site can have.

MSN appears to value on page factors more, and links less, which I agree with.

Hi Mikmik,

It is the same for me and my sites about msn, yahoo and google.

A couple of years ago it was exactly the opposite.
Super results in google, good in msn, very poor results in yahoo.

What will be the situation in the future?

I agree there is no rhyme or reason to Google. I also gave up on the link-crazed "brainless" Google long ago.

Can you imagine a bunch of Google hot shot twenty-somethings designing software for a moon shot? Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin would have heart attacks!

Hi all,

Just thought that I'd add that my other site got indexed within about 2 weeks and I'm now number 2 for a targetted keyword that has 2,200,000+ competing websites :) (It also helps that this keyword gets about 700 searches a month).

I'm experiencing very similar results for my other keywords. well, all of them except 2 :), I've got another 54 keyword focused pages to turn out yet ;)

I added a new sub domain about a month ago and it is in the top 10 for my keys. I just added another subdomain and MSN is the only engine to have it indexed. Ill be curious to see how long it takes to rank.

Yes but Microsoft probably can! Seriously, I'm sure MSN Search will increase it's market share - it's just a matter of time.

Have to agree with quickness of MSN. I uploaded a new page yesterday and it was not only indexed but number 1 today. Wow!!
