Hello All! I thought i would start this with New Years creaping up on us quickly.
What are your Goals for 2004?
Being I opened the door I'll start off. I am hoping to build my 100th site in 2004. Only 12 more to go and I have 3 on their way out at the moment. It will be my 11th year in the industry and quite a year at that. Secondly Im hoping to stay employeed through christmas 2004. I have a bad tradition of getting pink slips for christmas that I hope to defeat.
Ok now its your turn! lets hear it people what do you hope 2004 brings?

I've sat back and watched Steven and his wonderful wish fulfilling thread, thinking THAT is what Christmas is all about. Knowing that I couldn't wish for anything more than the true humanity being displayed in that thread.
I've poked fun at my holiday plans and even at my family, unbeknownest to them. I hope? Knowing that the true plan of Christmas isn't how much you get, but realizing how blessed you already are. Hoping that people will see, even if for just a second, that NO ONE can make them feel special, they can only remind them that they are!
And now......to find this thread on goals for the new year. You're a mind reader ofoglada. :)
This past year has been just as wonderful as it has been horrible. The beginning of 2003 taught me that miracles happen even when you sleep through them. It also taught me that sometimes it takes dying to realize that you weren't truly living. But.....2003 also showed me that you can make the most unlikely of dreams come true. I've watched 3 dreams come true this year that I NEVER would have believed would come true.
My Goal(s) for 2004? I would love to say that all my goals are business oriented, but that would be a lie. I have hundreds of little goals, but the one I find most important - I want to help one person realize their true worth. Everyone has a minimum of one quality that needs to be shared, they just don't always see it. :)
On the lighter side, and with me there is ALWAYS a lighter side! I want to be on one of those late night shows, like David Letterman, etc. I haven't decided what for though? Maybe for writing? I wonder if my Great Great Grandma Laura Ingalls Wilder would mind if I used her name to get there? As long as I don't have to write about Little houses or big woods!!! ;)

Hm, 2004 goals...
1. Learn that there are more than 3 colors on the color wheel ( blue, orange and grey ).
2. Finally start spinning at the local clubs, and change this town's culture finally. Lord knows we need it.
3. Get 2 techniques 1200's so I can play the records I got in Chicago.
4. Try to be a little less selfish so I can try to have a real relationship.
5. Finish producing the cd I've been working on.
6. All the unmentionable things I want to do :)
Ok, these are more like resolutions rather than goals

I'm hoping to go through 2004 without one day of unemployment. I've never experienced that (always had some time between projects... sometimes too long).
Also I hope to travel to Venezuela and meet my in-laws for the first time in my life. I've been married for almost 3 years and have yet to meet them in person. Made for an easy dating experience though. ;0)
Plus who can ever forget Steve Martin's requests (http://www.stevemartin.com/messageboard/showMessage.php?board=Saturday+Night+Live+%2F+The+ Steve+Martin+Specials&subjectId=4110). (hint: third post)

My goals are pretty simple, really, just to finish what I've started over the last year. That means getting top ten rankings for 2 different sites, one with the keyword "Arabic" the other with the keyword "Cash". My problem recently has bee having way more jobs than I have time to complete. I'd been grabbing everything as soon as possible, but now that I've built up some of a name, I can start to calm down and accept only what I want and have time to finish up the rest and do a good job.

Lessee...
1. Be more organized/tidy & have places to put things
2. Double my sales
3. Find more inner peace & banish the chaos from my life... as much as possible anyway (see #1)
4. Get out to more "meet & greet" events
5. Streamline and optimize my site so that I'm the Pagan/Wiccan Amazon.com. 8-)
6. Get more sleep
Hey.... why is it that half the goals are in direct opposition to the other half of the goals...? Hm. Maybe that's how I got where I am now... 8-\

My goals for the upcoming year will be to run my business more efficiently and productively. I've experienced major growing pains and been overwhelmed by referrals. I want to be more organized and less stressed. I need to figure out how to administer a growing client base. Any suggestions?

How do you administer that many sites? I've got about 30 and they are all active. Maybe I'm prolonging the inevitable of hiring a full time employee. Good luck to you in the coming year.

Great goals folks! Here's wishing that everyone gets what they aim for!
Personally, I've got a LAUNDRY LIST of 2004 goals, but I'll keep it short here:
1) Completely re-design my 2 web sites to be more user friendly, get A LOT more traffic, and get my product offerings in front of the folks who need them.
2) Turn my business into THE fitness resource for my town, Orange Park, FL. I am the only full-time independent personal trainer in these parts that doesn't work for a gym, and I aim to leverage that to make my biz a RESOURCE, not just a service.
3) Read #2, and add a bunch of dollar signs... :)
4) Use my site, my skills, and my experience to spend my first complete year as an independent contractor, and in so doing, have more time and more money for my family.
5) Spend less time planning, and more time DOING!!

Business Related: to increase "niche market" traffic to my web site; to write/publish more articles; to hire at least two part time employees to handle the increase in customers; to make an positive impact while making a profit.
Personal: to travel to South Africa or Israel; to be a philanthropic blessing to someone in need; to collect more antiques; to worry less and live more by faith.

This was a tough one, because I have become pretty pragmatic over recent years & life (for the most part) has been unfolding fine. I also don't really set short term goals. So I suppose you I could sublimely have these goals...
1. To be as many steps possible closer to financial independence.
2. Following on from #1 ... so I can take a holiday at end of year & go back to Belize & Scotland (hubby can go back to Canada while I'm there!) ;-)
3. To make as many new friends in 2004 as I did in 2003, 2002, etc.
4. To make as many people happy in 2004 as in previous yrs.
5. To finally understand what half the guys on here talk about!
6. To wake up with a hangover on the first day, remembering how much fun it will be on the last day again ;-)

Being self employed with 2 main business interest has made for an interesting decade+ at work for me - however my main frustration has been in finding the time to get to grips with Flash - now that I've upgraded to Flash MX one of my main goals is to get to grips with action scripts.
As a for my other business - things seems to be going well - I'm looking forward to being published on a regular basis, (new age magazine) and I'm hoping for additional opportunities to get media exposure for me and the work I do in 2004.
On a personal level I'd like to have the time and resources to finish a recording project I started a couple of years ago, and which has been on hold for way too long.
Best wishes to all for 2004.

2. Continue self improvement.
3. Simplify.

1. Open an office in New Haven, Connecticut.
2. Purchase a reliable van.
3. Get a small efficiency apartment.
4. Concentrate on being a minimalist vs buying everything and sticking it in storage.

mattmcg,
I have worked on 84 web sites currently however only about 14 i still touch and even then they arn't that demanding. But the first thing i did was build a ticketing system. That my clients use to give me lil tasks. They can prioritize them from important to whenever. This also servers as my billing application. I think the biggest key is being organized. You need some type of system to help you. When the heat really comes on you can always do what i do... drink a Double Gulp (64oz.) soda from 7-11 ;D or 2. I pull a lot of 7am to 3am shifts when things really heat up. But most of thr time im hitting the job boards sending my resume to company trash cans hoping for that legendary full time job. hope my ramblings helped.

My goal is continue, what I love to do, and that is working with other people and support them in emotional crisis. Also I enjoy writing novels, "fiction and non-fiction." My first book is in the process of coming on the market and is being edited by my publisher. It will be out in 2004.
So I wish all here a happy 2004, and a safe one, by all means.

Two primary objectives:
1. Double our 2003 income; and,
2. Continue our tradition of strong relationships with our customers.
Yeah, there's a whole bunch of little details that fall under these two items ... but now we're talking the difference between strategy & tactics.

I am just trying to come to grips with the fact that 2003 is almost over and still have that feeling that I didn't get a D&%$# THING DONE!!!
But I digress; my goals for 2004... hmmm.
1. Triple my company income from last year so my wife can quit working at Starbucks. (although, the free coffee is a nice perk)
2. Spend more time with my wonderful wife and children. (like that will happen if #1 happens)
3. Get my Black Belt in American Free Style Karate.
4. Begin teaching Martial Arts.
5. Learn Pa Kua Zhang. (Chinese martial art)
6. Spend next Christmas at Disney World.
7. Spend next New Years in New York.

Going to have to second that one. Doesn't always seem like progress has been made. Maybe it has.
Anyways here is the list:
1: acquire 20 new automotive dealers as clients
2: acquire 20 new real estate clients
3: acquire 20 new doctor clients
4: Help everybody KILL SPAM (safeaddress.com (http://www.safeaddress.com))
5: Decide to keep or kick out my significant other
6: Take at least one vacation this year (seems like I haven't in years)
Happy New Year (pre new year that is)

I've spent most of this past year slowly implementing a series of steps for my Goal of 2004, which is to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska from Pennsylvania. Well, the goal has to include not being homeless in Anchorage at this time next year, too! It does get a mite chilly there, although hardly as cold as many assume.
My daughter, Suzanne and her hubby, Brian want to return up there after he retires from the Marines this summer. They want me in their life and I'm more than willing to oblige as long as I don't have to be dependent upon them.
I already have one whacko long-term estranged daughter living up there, and her twin sister lives with me now. So, it will be a gathering and a time of healing and renewal and then moving forward.
I plan on getting employed in whatever way I can as soon as possible, and then working on getting my own business up and running. I'm actively planning a tech support business that will make onsite visits to both homes and small businesses.
I'll be driving the AlCan Highway come June. So, 2004 should be an interesting year at the very least.

I wonder how she will handle that Q....alphabetically?
If not...would we be ranked like some Google Algo? Will we all turn into spammers to get into the number one spot?
Is the number one spot really a good spot to be? Maybe number 3...I am sure Brittany does not bite on the first hook that comes along.
Questions, so many questions and 2004 is right around the corner too.

Paul, haven't you heard of queue jumping lol
Ronnie, it might not be appropriate to mention which are Brittany's good spot's and bad spot's ;o)
Anyway.. on to the top of the conversation. I launched both my site and business in February 2002, this year was my first full year of business.
It's been a fairly good success but I really would like to raise the profile of my website without having to pay for advertising!
Any ideas?

Congrats! I am still in diapers compared to yours, 6-months.
I did not see any web address for you, so I cannot say but just a couple of things. Good linkbacks...keep getting them. And if applicable and you like writing...do some articles on your site and make em available for free publication as long as they keep your byline in tact (ie- a link to your site)

I'd like to think I could earn some reasonable money with this web design thang! We've had a fair start at the end of 2003, so who knows?
I'd also like to get my Blues band into a Blues Festival somewhere in the UK this year ................!

My goal for 2004 is to get every last one of my websites ranked #1 in google!! Last year I had learned soo much about search engines and what it takes to get sites ranked from one of my co-workers and news letters and websites such as WebProWorld (my personal fav.) and SitePro News. This has led to me getting alot of the sites I had designed into search engines and ranked in the top 10; if only they all could move up to #1!!
Also, another resolution would be to get Brittney's phone number so we can talk more about...umm...well...web designer stuff :)
