Go to www.DenialClothing.com and you'll see that they have their pages are locked so you can not re-adjust the size of the page. Can anybody please tell me how this is done?

Thanks for the help.

This is done using javascript. Usually you can find code like this in a OnClick or OnLoad tag.

PopUP (#)

For an easy way of setting these type things up try:

What do you mean "locked"? I can resize the first page. Are you referring to your screen resolution?

I assume you';re talking about the pop up

well, if you have a pop up blocker like I do, then it doesn't come up at all !!

Be wary of that if are thinking of duplicating that idea

well, if you have a pop up blocker like I do, then it doesn't come up at all !!Yep that's right... my Zone Alarm firewall stopped the 'onLoad' popup in its tracks. The popup will only appear if the user (i.e. me!) requests it by clicking on the link. I see the writers were aware of this... as they point out the site link in the page copy.

Be wary of that if are thinking of duplicating that ideaAgain, I agree with cyanide here... it certainly doesn't make for the most intuitive interface.. and may put off visitors. There seems to be some nice graphics on the site mentioned, just a pity they haven't spent the same amount of time developing a user-friendly site! :c)

I have to add that the site that opens, once you click the link due to the pop up being stopped, actually looks hideous in Firebird.

The site doesn't look too terrible in Opera 7, but only if you leave the window at its default size (which, of course, I never do). Maximized, the Denial Clothing site looks awful.

The pop-up, frames, and opening of new windows in general would make me look for another place to shop. One of the things that really bugs me is sites that try to hide what they're doing by taking over my browser. I have an address bar because I want one, and I have minimize and restore buttons that I use. I resize my browser windows when I want. Try to take these things away, and I'll head to another site.

If they were just using them to display images, or such, then I wouldnt mind. But displaying another url is another story, lose my control there & you lose me.

I honestly didn't think much of the whole concept of the site at all, didn't matter which browser it was, it didn't look any better.

That is no model site:

Once you get past the aggrivating popup, you are assaulted by a non-optomized gray tone + blue graphic of epic proportions = 139K!

Look what is happening to the stats at Alexa lately: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=www.denialclothing.com

Dead, Died and Gone!

Meet the new dance!

Time to start over!

Don't mean to be that rude, crude and ill-mannered, but the best thing to do is forget you ever saw that site and go on!

Sorry, but it seems to be that "cut and dried"!

I think the original post from TheDoctor was asking for information in relation to this site... and more specifically the technique of opening a new, fixed-size window. ofoglada kindly offered a code sample and a further link.

Maybe we shouldn't dwell too much on this site's appearance and layout as it clearly has no relevance to the original question.

Just my two cents

Solution = as above

Suggestion = don't do it unless its for images or specified documents that warrent it.

Conclusion = what you think may look good or functional, might not be

My 5 cents ;-)
