There is still a great deal of discussion surrounding the overall intent of the Internet. Is it a place to go for free, (other than your ISP costs) and exchange idea's present new ways to think, focus on the news etc. or is it the world’s larges shopping mall?

I have given this a great deal of thought and have not really found out the answer. Webmasters, reach striving for the coveted first place on the search engines to promote their wares. Educators and news writers use the Internet to promote theory and ideas. What do you think? Who is gaining ground? Are there any winners and is this even a race?

I would love to get your opinion on some of these questions.
Being that it is that "special time of the year", I like to take this time to reflect over the past 4 - 5 years of my Internet experience and perhaps make some changes in regard to focus. You could help others and hopefully me as well in this quest for the truth.

Porn has become one of the major players on the net as well. How do you see this? Is it self-expression, art or freedom of speech and expression? What do you see in the future when it comes to this topic? Dating sites, every sexual idea you could or would have ever thought of and even stuff that is termed illegal is placed in cyberspace for all to view and take part in. Should porn be banned? Who should be the judge over what is porn and what is art?
Hope to hear your answers and ideas soon.
