Hi

A friend of mine wants me to optimize three of his websites. He doesn't have much text on his sites, so I would have to add some text, create meta tags, anchor keywords, and submit his urls. What is the going rate for doing this kind of work?

That depends on how many pages of the site you are working on. If the text is static or if you are creating dynamic pages. Also how many places you are going to submit his site to, i'm assuming you are submitting to directories.

A lot of the work he could probably do himself if it is just adding text and submitting his site.

It definitely depends on the scope of the work. I charge an hourly rate normally but on occassion I have done a flat fee. To do a flat fee I usually take the number of hours it should take to do the job and multiply by the hourly rate and pad it for an extra few hours just in case something happens.
