View Full Version : Entertaining yourself when snowed in...

It's that time of year when a lot of us, against our will, will be unable to leave the house due to that four letter word we shall not say. So, what do you do to entertain yourself when the sn#w traps you inside?
Some things that come to mind for me are...
-Well the obvious - read the posts at WPW and laugh your butt off...that is until a huge sheet of ice slides off the roof and disables the Internet service...
-Roast marshmallows on the stove (this gets tricky when you have an electric stove)
-Order pizza and laugh as you imagine the poor delivery guy fishtailing his way to your house...(my apologies to any pizza delivery professionals who may be out there)
Well, I will be very bored this winter because that's all I can think of. What will you do?

I just got a really funny email so I need to add to the list. You have to get this one in before the sheet of ice takes out your Internet service...
If your cruelty toward the pizza guy wasn't enough, you can further it by...(make sure you shake it)

What does an aussie do when she is cooped up under 6ft of snow in Canada.... She fills spray bottles with coloured water & goes outside & paints the snow :-) Gooood fun! And when it snows again you have another blank canvas :-)
Looks pretty cool when it melts too :-)

As I live in the UK I don't really get that much snow, and when I do it turns into brown slush.
I'll have to have fun with the rain?!

Pfffttt.... what do Aussie women from Kanata know about REAL SNOW?
And as for northwest England, I vividly recall some years ago driving (in a Mini) from Newcastle down to London in December in something called freezing fog - YIKES!!!! Give me snow any day...
what is this stuff called "snow"?
it's 72 degrees here and we have the air conditioner on :-)

72F (or 24C for those that are in the 21th century) and I am still in winter clothes :-)

In Oz, that's basically a 'roo pouch loincloth with a dingo-skin top and a Crocodile Dundee hat and slippers, if memory serves... to change to summer gear, Aussies just kick off the slippers.

OK...some of the ways we entertained ourselves during snowstorms. (happened quite frequently)
Slapping each other around trying and linking to weather service updates that said "we are not going to die".
Watching the snow fall, wind blow, and believing there was a "weather service update" that would tell us "we were not going to die".

Ooh, there's an idea! Ok, this winter I will be putting on a bathing suit, flip-flops and sunglasses, dousing myself in suntan lotion and listening to sunny florida weather reports...hey, do you think the pizza guy will look at me strangely when I open the door for him?

If you opened a door dressed like that up here in the middle of winter you'd resemble Smurfette in about 20 seconds...

When all fails:
Take a snowball and shove it up your nose (always worked for me).
Make a snow sculpture of a badger that comes to life and hurts people.
Popular song:
"Take a bunch of snow and put it in your pocket, never let it go away".
Best couple:
Deloris & Whitey:
Whitey: "Deloris, I haven't seen it snow this much in 50 years."
Deloris: "We live in Palm Beach, is hasn't snowed in 50 years."
Whitey: "Then how do you explain all that white stuff on the ground?"
Deloris: "Guess they had to drop it and make a run for the border."
Whitey: "They dropped snow?, what would Santa think?"
Deloris: "Honey, go to bed."
Don't do drugs! I may make references to them, but just don't do it!
Thanks
