I am not going to add a lot to what has been said above but my site stats (3 sites) indicate that 1024X 768 is the preferred resoltion for home users and 800X600 is for business and business is catching up and in a lot of cases is improving.

I now design my sites so that they can be viewed equally in both as it does not really afect the presentation.(640 works as well as 2000+)

I noticed from another forum thread about tables and CSS that opinion is divided about the what is best. I would say use both as CSS provides the tools to manipulate the way a site appears and you can use tables to control other aspects.

Use the tools avialable to meet the demands of the majority and let the minority know that they should catch up.

I know that is probably not the "politically correct" view but life moves on and you should be able to adapt to surf.If you have to scroll then so be it!

The problem in the future is catering for the lower resolutions and the absolute higher resolutions as companies and individuals get bigger and better monitors, we're only dealing with the middle zone at the moment, never mind WAP etc.

Thats my twopenny worth,
Hope it helps,
