Advancements in search engine technology , search engine spyware and toolbars! All you have to do to be spidered by several top search engines is to go to that specific engine and search for your domain. Walla – Magic – Watch the spiders come!

I also heard if you have Google Toolbar installed, and open your website, Google collects all data. But Daniel said somewhere that this may not be the ONLY reason of website being spidered and the possibility itself can't be ruled out.

I have seen this to be true for the Alexa toolbar. However the Google toolbar does not show any evidence of such behaviour.
Have you tested a fresh site and soley visited this site with the Google toolbar without any further SEO?

Well, I just so happen to have a brand new site that I have a few links to, (links were placed after Dec. 8 googlebot visit) but have not submitted SO I tried entering title, came up with zip (naturally) then tried url, got the standard Sorry, no information is available for the URL and then went to url from link furnished by Google.
We will see if that triggers googlebot. Will look at logs and report back.
Interesting idea.
