Only want to POP it once

Hey everyone!

Don't know too much about web design. I am trying to figure out how to have a pop-up appear only the first time you visit the home page. Don't want to annoy my customers with the damn pop up. Any help is appreciated.

Use a cookie to track if a customer has been there that day. Just remember that only people on Internet Explorer will see the pop up and even then they may have a pop up blocker installed.
