I am attempting to create a web page for a friend using Dreamweaver.[www.arrowbucket.com] I am at the point where I need to load the information to the SSL and was hopping to get some advise on how to set up the ecommerce part of the page. I have flash buttons for "buynow", "viewcart", and "addto cart but I don't know how to have them carry the checkout information to SSL pages. Trust me I know I'm in way over my head but I committed to get this done for my buddy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.[/url]

Carrying the info to SSL is relatively easy.
But need to know where the SSL resides? Are you using the shared SSL from your host or did you buy your own and where is it?
All you really need to do is make sure all links/images are point to the SSL.
I'll explain, if your SSL is installed on your domain and you've decided to put the shopping pages in a folder called 'shop', then all links pointing to your cart should look like this https://www.arrowbucket.com/shop (notice the 's')
and make sure that all images in those pages are pointing to https://www.arrowbucket.com/images/ (again, notice the s)
If you're using a shared SSL from your host, then the URL will look something like this https://anyhost.com/~arrowbucket/shop/
But again, some more info is needed to help you out

I have the shared SSL set up on the sight. What I need to set up is getting my flash, "buy" "add to cart", and "view cart" buttons to carry the information form each product listing. I am trying to avoid haveing to build a new button for each product. I want to be able to pass the maintenance of the site on to my friend so I dont want to have to load and teach him flash. Thanks

ummm,
I think you need to provide some more info
Sounds like more of a shopping cart / programming issue than it is an SSL problem.
Explain more specifically what you are doing, so we can assist

Yes it is a shopping cart issue. I didnt realize how involved the shopping cart end of this project was going to be. I have no budget to buy a shopping cart program is there some freeware out there that offers just a basic easy to use shopping cart?

If RiverFish doesn't...I do.
I am looking into shopping cart services...not software. The service would have to provide the SSL ordering and product database.
We already have a merchant account and are setup with Authorize.NET for some basic one-product sites.
Basicly I am looking for a SC service that all I have to do is put some code onto my page and it will list the name, description, price, and have an order button.
Now I do understand there are a lot of services out there that provide this with a various range of additional services on top of that such as e-mail newsletters (cuz they capture that info for you), coupons & gift certificates, etc.
I would like to know what you would recommend and why? What to look out for? What to avoid? etc.

Thanks Jurgen. I checked it out, and from first glance it looks pretty decent. About a month ago, I looked at a gazillion of these and don't know how I missed this one or ever came across it.
It does have a way of populating some sort of database with...what that database is, I am uncertain. And whether my present Host will handle this software is another issue....although we are going to go with another host on this project we are working on, so that is not an issue really.
My feelings are having a service do it so I don't have to mess with that end of it. Plus some of the other options that come with the service such as email campaigns, selling gift certificates, and whatever else.
Plus I think with a service that has a good name and is recognized by a lot of online shoppers adds to the comfort level.
Oh, congrats on the PR5 again! and when are you going to take down those lights? ;0)

Ronnie,
The only e-commerce app that will allow you to paste code that I'm aware of is http://goemerchant.com , but with them you don't need a merchant acct and gateway.
Having your own merch acct and gateway is always preferable since it gives you the flexibility to take your customers elsewhere should you so choose.
I would recommend http://oscommerce.com if you're looking for a free shopping cart with tons of professional features. It's available free at their website, you can also visit their forums at http://forums.oscommerce.com where oscommerce users accross the globe help each other with their sites.
Best of luck to you,

Thanks Alessandro. It is appearing that more and more people I come across are recommending this type of approach.
I will probably not go with a service when all is said and done. It is just finding the time to do all of the other things on my plate, and this too. With the service, I had some piece of mind in knowing that a lot of the technical and secure aspects are being taken care of.....plus some of the other goodies that go with it also.
