I subscribe to the notion of not using an automated link exchange software. Create your own link pages and spend the time working them yourself. In the long run I believe you will be rewarded. Google tends to not like the automated link exchange programs.

Softwares that manage your link exchanges are meant to save your time. I think they do. For example, the e-mail messages asking for a link exchange are already written. They also help you find sites that have similar content to your site.

I use the reciprocal manager with good success.
