- Polygram Records, Warner Bros. and Cracker Barrel will join forces and become Polly, Warner, Cracker.
- 3M will merge with Goodyear and issue forth as MMM Good.
- Zippo Mfg., Audi Motor Cars, Dofasco and Dakota Mining will merge to become, of course, ZipAudiDoDa.
- Federal Express is expected to join its major competitor, UPS, and become FedUp.
- Fairchild Electronics and Honeywell Computers will become Fairwell Honeychild.

- Knotts Berry Farm and the Nat'l Org. of Women will become Knott Now.
