I read another post some where that said Google was dancing again so I went and checked it out and yes Google is dancing again.

Be patient. Wait until the dust settles. They aren't finished yet.

(not wanting to be one of those annoying people who says, "I told you so", Dr. Dave of the Psychic Network, Canadian Version, remains silent, remembering when Janeth told him it was fine with her if he was wrong...)

Hi minstrel,
Very fast to take credit for being right when they could just be adding the new filter to all the key words. lol
Or could have felt like they had not toatly messed up yet and wanted to go one step further.

Please tell me you are joking...no more dancing! my feet are already tired from pacing the floor over the last one. So I guess we don't know if they are fixing the mess they made or if they are creating a new one? ideas?

No Joke Google found out that under there new filter there own site would be banned so there making more changes now.
We will see what happens next. We are coming out with a totally new design this week so I'm not even worried about Google right now.

Glad to hear it. It's strange, my site hasn't been crawled in 5 days. Google did crawl daily. I can only hope they change the the system. I still can't figure out how Pages with PR0 from Google get ranked above PR4, 5 or 6 pages in a search. Makes you wonder what the relevence of the PR system is huh?
In the meantime...I'm paying heavily to advertise on all the systems. It's working, but I'm paying 1600% more in advertising to get the same rate of return when the ranking system worked. The more I look at it, it seems like a grab for money for those who depend on the system.
Dance Away Google, I've been stuffing lots of money in your panties for a while, now show me something good.

See Reuters Press release (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20031203/wr_nm/tech_google_dc_2):
Wayne Rosing, vice president of engineering at Google, said the change is part of the Silicon Valley-based company's efforts to provide high-quality search results.
"This particular change affected more people, but our testing shows there was a significant quality improvement for our users," said Rosing.
Looks like they may keep this one....

I would expect that Google would say that.
You know there not going to say we messed up but are trying to fix it now.
If it was so good then I have to wonder why there still working on it this close to there new changes.

Good point. However, I didn't see much shifting after last night/this mornings dance.
Results in my category pretty much stayed the same. Anyone else see much difference?

Hi achronister,
It is not over yet and I have not been watching to much since the last one lasted a week and at the end Google even lost there on ranking.

Yea. I need to stop worrying about it, I keep changing my mind :-)
The only thing is I'm going live with an additional site next week and trying to predict what's going to happen is difficult.
Right now I'm just comparing mine to the sites that dropped out trying to determine which direction to take.

If I were searching for something in particular on Google, I would hope that I got what I was looking for in just one or two clicks. Therefore, wouldn't it pay Google or any such search engine to be a little more 3 dimensional. i.e. depth. Ensure that other pages within a domain match the subject.
E.g. Is it possible this new dance includes an algorithm which takes into account content of all pages to ensure that we are, what we claim to be.
Google are trying to think as a user would, and not a designer, maybe? Chicken and egg comes to mind.
Just a thought.

I certainly hope Google is dancing as I cannot make head nor tail of the results I am getting for my sites! 1st I thought the inconsistency was associated with sites where the domain name matched the search term - but no great consistency there, then perhaps increasing relevance placed on pages deeper within the site, again no consistency. The more so when looking at scroogle to see other sites that were dropped.
I can only come to one certain conclusion. Google has migrated part of its system to MicroSoft Applications!!!!!! Aargh!!!
I'm going to leave my sites well alone - while of course increasing paid adverts - and see what happens over the next few weeks.
However, with the increasing reliance commerce and global access to information has on Google, they need to be very careful as mucking around with consistency like they have recently been doing might lead to them being regulated. A good or bad thing? I'll put this as a new thread...
