Help on Google

I can't figure this out. Google had us on 2nd page for a search term for months and we used the ad words which didn't do anything for us so we stopped the ad and then we got taken out of google all together. Using scroogle.org using the search term we would be #10. Does anyone has any insight on what is happening?

Are you sure that your site hasn't just been surpassed by better optimised websites for your keyword?
