The unit of America Online formerly known as Netscape Communications Corporation (http://home.netscape.com/) has released a prototype of Netscape Browser, a standalone Web browser (no email client or Composer) based on Mozilla Firefox. A Windows version of the prototype can be downloaded by registered beta testers from community.netscape.com/nscpbrowser (http://community.netscape.com/nscpbrowser/).

If it is in fact based on Firefox, may well be worth the look. Been using Firefox for quite a while. Makes Microsoft's Exploder, sorry, Explorer look pretty bad.

From the screenshots it just looks like firefox with a netscape theme and the auto form filler extension. Hardly worth caling it netscape unless they changed some of the actual internals.

I have had 2 machines now that won't boot after loading FireFox. That's out of 10 installs that I've done on my own machines and another 20 or so around the office. If it doesn't work better than that, then I'll go with the older browsers. FireFox has a few annoying quirks, especially in JavaScript handling, but overall I'm getting to like it. Just wish it worked 100% of the time.

Brian.

Not had any problems myself. I've used it since it was Pheonix and I've never encountered anything even remotely close to what you are describing. Firefox should in no way, shape nor form affect the start up files.
