Does anyone know how I can prevent another site from popping up when visitors are trying to access my site?

Welcome to WebProWorld asumner, glad to have you here :)

Let me see if I understand your situation. When you access your site you receive a pop-up or your site doesn't show in the initial browser window but another site replaces it?

If you are receiving pop-ups it could be your host has inserted code into your site or it could be adware on your harddrive serving you pop-ups. If it is another site replacing yours then it could be a hijacking.

Hi, thanks for responding. Here's what is happening. When I access my site it comes up in the initial browser window, but then another site comes up in another window. I then have to close the other window to get back to my site.

I'm worried that this is happening to other visitors. Can I contact the other site and tell them to stop replacing my site?

Ann

What is the url to your site? If you don't want to post it that's fine - you are welcome to pm me the link. I can check and see what your viewers are seeing.

Do you have an anti-virus on your machine? Or other malware remover such as Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc.? If you do, which one's and have you updated and ran them lately?

Hi, here's my web site:

www.treetopsflorida.com

I use eAcceleration as my internet provider, which has a virus and spyware scan. I just scanned yesterday. eAcceleration also has a popup blocker called Stop Sign, which doesn't always work. Of course now that I'm trying to recreate the problem, and have turned off the popup blocker, the other site is not coming up.

Let me know what happens when you try to access my site. Thanks, Ann

Ann,

I found a nice site with no pop-ups. :) Thank you for posting the link. I hope it was only a problem with the pop-up blocker. If you have any further problems don't hesitate to post them :)

Hope to see you around the forum.

So Florida is still above water, good to know.
The problem, is most likely your PC. Your site hasn't been hijacked your browser has.
Run Spybot search & destroy and spyware blaster, then try your site. you can find these programs at Cnet.
