Are Doorway Pages Spam?

Greetings Everyone!

I just read the following article which broached the subject of doorway-entry-splash pages being considered spam:

To be fair, the index page of my (beauty store) site within my below signature is a doorway-entry-splash page. So what is your opinion of such doorway-entry-splash pages, particularly now that Google is indexing even the flash doorway pages?

btw - its okay to use my doorway-entry-splash page as a point of argument - I will not take offense.

What are you doing? There was no spammy splash page before and the colors are blinding. This is not your Site that I visited before. Did you change for the worse all the way around, or is it a different URL? At least the other one was pleasent to look at!

Yes, same site, new colors. I'll actually consider your advice over the next day or so & will probably make some changes per your constructive criticism, which I do value.
