Custom eCommerce Solution

I am looking for a custom eCommerce solution for my site:

We have a database of bamboo plants with the specs, types, uses, etc. We need to make this into a searchable database / online store. Our competitor is using a less sophisticated tool to do this, we want something to outdo them:

We are using PayFlow Pro to process our credit cards but are not satisfied with the yearly charges involved with getting a SSL certificate since we already have our own secure servers. Suggestions on payment gateways that could integrate would also be appreciated.

Also, we need real time UPS calculation. We have a UPS account already and get daily pickup.

*correction: PayFlow Pro is not a problem. I just need to setup a dedicated IP address and get an SSL certificate... My host will provide that service.
