I checked through the break room and didn't see anything about this, so I thought I would ask.

What does it take to be a Moderator? Do you have to have a certain amount of posts? Do you have to write an article or two? Do you have to be a close personal friend of Brittany's? What does it take?

I am sure I am not the only one who would be interested in being a moderator. So common, spill it...

Yep, I would also like to become a Moderator.
So your not the only one.

Don't think it's gonna happen, I e-mailed Brittany and she said they where not looking for any new Moderators.

'O' well *sigh*

Do you have to write an article or two?
Tick ! Done !

Do you have to be a close personal friend of Brittany's?
Welll..I don't think she hates me...but she still hasn't invited me for coffee yet! ;-)

What does it take?
Ever thought of a bribe? Flowers & Jewellry I hear works :-)

Good Luck! :-)

Welll..I don't think she hates me...but she still hasn't invited me for coffee yet! She likes me then hates me on a regular basis but I know where she hides the chocolate powder.

Yep I got in early so gold was good enough. I hear its a full carat diamond at least now-a-days plus something nice of course for all the other Mods to put in a good word for you :))) No really you have to sign in blood that you will be part of Brittany's scheme to take over the world.

Alternatively ghstdrgns (and anyone else) send Brittany an e-mail explaining your skill set and she'll put you on the list and you never know next time she needs someone for a particular forum you may get a call. Mean while keep posting good info and become an active helpful part of the WPW family. I think most Mods were MVP's before becoming Mods and most of the members respect well reasoned argument, good info and a good post far more than they respect a simple MOD logo.

I couldn't deprive you of the box as you'll need them all for Saturday...ummm new newspaper headline for Sundays Aussie Times "Kleenex Kleanout as Wallabies Weep at Wilco Winner" :))))

(Pssssst...I'll let you in on another secret--you have to be awfully nice to the WPW computer, which has to give you permission to be so designated...even after Brittany approves you!)

On discussing rankings, we covered the moderator qualifications in this post: http://webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=8098&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 ; pay paricular attention to the first series of posts between Brittany and the others. Her first few replies are most 'illuminating', and you will now never see ME becoming a moderator, no matter how badly I wanted to!

It was nice knowing everybody! Give my regards to Broadway!

The number of posts you make is irrelevant, it's quality that counts. That along with a willingness to help, an unbiased attitude, and the ability to admit you were wrong will get you far.

I find that a lot of people that ask to be mods are usually the last people you'd want to make mods, no offence.

At least you dont have to have a sex change to get to MVP ;-) Unless I am missing someone...has anyone noticed there aren't any 'female' MVP's ;-)

My advice to the aspiring to be moderators....Sit back & enjoy the ride ! :-)

Cindy I think the problem is when ever a female is made MVP she gets promoted to MOD. Syren, Wen, Cyanide, Masterpiece and Janeth were all MVP's before becoming MODS.

Thank you everybody for opening my eyes. I now see the error of my ways and repent. (And I would prefer to remain my current gender.) Although, after reading the content of the linked post that mikmik provided, I would say I at least deserve consideration for MVP since I seem to have trumped carbonize in a previous post. And I so enjoy matching wits with a fellow sarcasmist. ;o)

I find that a lot of people that ask to be mods are usually the last people you'd want to make mods, no offence.

So if I asked to help serve on your soup line, you would hit me in the forehead with your ladle? I stand to get nothing out of being a moderator. It is not a glamour position. You put in a lot of time and effort to maintain the integrity of a forum so that it can help others learn and grow (and have fun). I was asking because I want to help. If that means being a regular member and helping by sharing my knowledge that way, then that is perfectly fine with me.

Just keep your ladle to yourself. ;o)

I was given to understand that the qualifications were:
- a connection to the internet
- a minimum of 3 fingers, for typing
- experience with some sort of surgery (not necessarily a sex change operation)... not sure if that's there to ensure cutting-edge insight or so that someone is online for first aid
- a killer smile (okay I just made that last one up)

Must still be frozen , however, I will add that to the list of 'highly unlikely but plausable' excuses for future reference. You do understand, however, that I can't give you authorship credit when I use it - but hopefully you can find solace in the fact that you've helped countless denizens of the pathetic to lead more irresponsible but blissful lives!

LOL... no... I meant the gag about "IQ lower than a potato" - there were originally three of those - one I edited with the message above - the second the Mod kindly deleted, hoping no doubt to save me from the humiliation I am nonetheless experiencing thanks to your post :-)

How to become moderator in 6 easy steps:

1. Become a member of WPW
2. Add your professional input in various parts of WPW
3. Get to know some of the other members of WPW
4. Begin to wonder about some of the members of WPW :)
5. Really begin to wonder about some of the members and Moderators of WPW ;)
6. Become a Moderator and have the members really wonder about you
7. Continue to be a Moderator and begin wondering about yourself

Being a Moderator is being a member and I'd still be a member even if I wasn't a Moderator. :)

And I've gotten more 'cool' links from your posts than anyone elses! Don't worry, you're plenty cool for the likes of us, you are one of us, we've already started the 'teasing' over that 't' word, I don't understand why they haven't given you a 'label.

I got mine within 3 weeks of my first down payment (you seen the price of bribes around here? sheesh).

matauri

Labels are only good to say 'believe what I say'. Now thats a worry in itself, considering that we were being asked to believe what Mik said a LOT sooner than me ;-)

And anyway...took me to almost 500 posts to be cool !! But I always knew deep down I was the coolest anyway ;-) OK...Carju's a little cool ! He just aint an aussie! And I beat him this week anyway ! ;-)

Tips on being cool at WPW .......
1. Dont be a Brits supporter in the rugby (it is way cooler to win a lose a game good!)
2. Dont try to understand what Mik says, cof if ya did...I would think seriously about commital ;-)
3. Smile & nods at the fellas.... for they know not what they do ;-)
4. Listen to Minstrel...gotta kiss butt there...coz he is the only one who can sign the papers to get Mik released!
5. Humour Carbonize & Cyanide (must be something in the C's)...coz we're not quite sure if they are male or female yet ;-)
6. Be good at untangling fishing line, coz Rocky sometimes needs a hand ;-)
7. Think quick on your feet, or Greyhawk is liable to pull them out from under ya! (he still thinks he is playin rugby!)
8. Display an air of innocence like Wenwilder, coz then it doesn't matter what you write, folks will beleive ya :-)
9. Change your pic regularly, and with really blurry ones, coz ya can keep a convo goin for ages on just that!
But most importantly.......
10. CHECK YOUR SANITY AT THE DOOR !!!

:-)
