I am at the moment trying to get tickets for a LotR triple header here in the Netherlands. Starting at 4:30 pm on the Tuesday 16th with the first 2, then at 00:05 on the Wednesday 17 Return of the King. That way I can tell you all about it before its even released in California :) (Mind you, Matauri will probably beat me in Aus by about 8 hours :(

That is going to be one LOOONNNGGGGG triple header.

I read the book - If you like, I can tell you how it ends a month ahead of the release and save you all that anxiety... :-)

I think I've heard mention of something like that happening around here... but I doubt I'll have the attention span to attend.

Just think of all the bathroom breaks! lol

They will probably do what they did with Matrix Revolutions and that is release it at exactly the same time world wide. I think it was something like 6am in LA, 3pm in the UK and 5 PM in russia.

I read the Hobbit when I got it free with the computer game for my Commodore 64 when I was about 14 then read LOTR's soon after.

Nope they are releasing it at 00:01 local time everywhere.

Yep I had the Hobbit for the spectrum. It was groundbreaking as it was supposed to the first game where the 2 characters had to act collectivly . Where Bilbo has to ask Durin to lift him up to the window in the goblin prison.

David I know how it ends.... The power of the ring becomes too much for Frodo. He and Sam overthrow Sauron and set themselves up as dictators of middle earth and chop of the legs of all the tall peoples. Then enslave them all to make the ultimate firework... Well something like that anyway.

Thankfully there is a food break between 1 & 2 and a beer break between 2 & 3. Guess the BRB's will be just have to wait. Now all we need is a baby sitter from 4pm - 4am

No Julian you are wrong there. The ending is that Frodo took the blue pill and none of it actually happened it was all just a dream. He then quits his job as a program writter to join up with a rock band and replaces the lead singer. While on the road they meet a murderous priest that tries to sell their souls to Satan.

Jeeze some people.

And all this time I thought that the one ring turned tomorrow into yesterday, the good guys into jello with strong EEG's, and the bad 'uns into ghosts...

Frodo, Gollum and Pippin bring Lord of the Rings promo tour to Toronto
By JOHN MCKAY

TORONTO (CP) - Andrew Serkis swears nobody ever asks him to do the voice of Gollum.

But the barely suppressed grins on the faces of his amigos Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Billy Boyd (Pippin) betray him. "Every journalist, if someone brings in a cup of tea they'll ask Andy to do the voice," Boyd declares with a laugh. "It's the world's greatest party trick," adds Wood.

Yes, Serkis, finally confesses, he's always being asked to serve up a sample of that raspy-voiced schizophrenic creature who is one of the most remarkable characters in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

So Gollum is invited to offer his impressions of Canada and Toronto:

"Toronto is the worst place I've ever been to in my life!" he hisses with a sound that suggests sandpaper on helium.

"No, no it's not precious, it's the best, it's a BEAUTIFUL country!" replies his alter ego.

"How do you know? You've just seen the inside of a hotel room!"

"Yeah, well, the Leafs still suck..."

"Yesss, they do, precioussss..."

(Okay... I made up the last two lines)

I have knotice some things that I think are kind of weird.

Frodo is taken to live and be raised by his uncle.

Luke Skywalker was taken to be raised by his uncle.

Frodo follows some old magick guy on a quest to save the world.

Luke follows some old magick guy on a quest to rule the world.

Frodo has many trials and tribulations to over come before the end of his journey.

Luke has many trials and tribulations to over come before the end of his journey.

Frodo has his uncles' magick sword.

Luke has his fathers' light saber.

LOTR is a trilogy.

Original Star Wars is a trilogy.

I think that Tolkien ripped George Lucus off. There are just too many simularities to be a coincidence.

ROFL - Lucas admitted years ago that he borrowed from LotR for some of the basic ideas for Star Wars. In fact I think he once said SW is LotR for the space age generation.

Here's another coincidence appropriate for today if not LotR

1966 - Germany equalise in the dying seconds of the soccer World Cup. Englands number 10 (Geoff Hurst) scores the winner in OT
2003 - Australia equalises in the dying seconds of the Rugby World cup. Englands No.10 (Wilco) scores the winner in OT

Aparently not! You got my daughter all excited with talk of marathons etc, so we were checking it out. Here is our schedule:

Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring Extended Version (11/12/2003)
Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers Extended Version(18/12/2003)
Lord Of The Rings Double Feature Extended Versions (23/12/2003)
The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King (26/12/2003)

It seems to be a pattern, if it is made in the southern hemi, we are the last to see it! A bit rude I must say!

Not at all... we in the modern (aka civilized) world know full well that by the time you get over here to chastize us (what is it now? 12-16 hours by a fast jet?), we'll have plenty of time to make a getaway...
