Question about email marketing

I'd like to ask you about opt-in email lists. If you don't have your own opt-in database where can you get opt-in targeted list that work?

Hi Mary,

In my opinion and experience buying someone else’s database comes with many pitfalls. Potentially your are better off with 10 legitimate optins than a 100 who have not really given permission to be part of your list.

All offers I've seen and tried don't work and you are flirting with danger!

Despite this I recently worked with a client where we could get away with buying a targeted database. Their product and service was very very very unique and had they previously built credibility with this audience, from sample trials the target audience had a high acceptance about being approached with their information. In this praticular case we had a high conversion from that database.

In a nutshell do you have a compelling offer and can you find a database targeted enough towards your market? If not, you may annoy the hell out of any potential clients and ruin any opportunity to sell to them in the future.
