Hi Everyone,

Just for the record, I am in no way affiliated with this company (Searchclimbers.com), but I was approached to advertise with them and I am curious. Does anyone here know anything about it?

Apparently, they have a user base of 10,000,000 already. And what happens is you pay for your keywords and business names and the people that have downloaded this little file can put the keyword into the address bar in their Explorer, Netscape or AOL window and the homepage of the company purchasing the keyword will come up or, if the keyword is not taken, it searches hotbot and displays hotbot's results.

The other thing that it does is when a person who has downloaded the utility enters one of your keywords into Google, MSN, Inktomi, Altavista, or Yahoo, it creates a pop-up window with the homepage of the company purchasing the keyword will come up or, if the keyword is not taken, it searches hotbot and displays hotbot's results. AOL, Ask Jeeves and Alltheweb are supposed to be added.

I tried it out, and it works.

This is a great idea, if the homepage reflects something relevant, but what happens when they get someone who wants a keyword that is not relevant?

Could I get some input here on whether this might be a worthwhile investment?

Thanks,
Shannon

Their claims sound dubious to me, but I tend to be a skeptic. I would ask for referrals and follow up with them before them parting with any cash.

Their homepage PR is 2. Their Alexa ranking is 216,000+. They have a grand total of one backlink in Google.

Seems to me if they had millions of existing customers their PR, Alexa rankings, and backlinks would be through the roof.

Has anyone here had any dealings with them?
