Hi,
I have a cgi form on my site that is functioning properly.
I am having a problem with people entering bogus e-mail addresses.
Is there a script I could add to the form that captures their real e-mail address?
Thanks Scott

Greetings - scottvnd!

My low-tech solution for my own .cgi forms is psychological in nature. I let them know that by sumbitting their email they will be entered in a $xxx.00 monthly sweepstakes drawing - Stating that if you submit a non-existent email your sweeptakes entry will be null & void.

This tend to keep bogus entries to about 4%. However, you will always get email bounce-back of around 10% due to full & neglected email boxes. I always refused to take "hotmail" emails, as they have the highest degree of bogus bounce back.

BTW - my .cgi forms prevent duplicate entries for those who think they should resubmit their email a zillion times to increase their sweepstakes winning odds.

Cheers!
Max

Well, it's kinda difficult to know what a real and not-so-real email address is.

But, I might advise that you switch to a php form script. Some cgi-perl scripts are not so secure

There are some good ones here www.hotscripts.com
