Yahoo has really got things working on our camping site. I noticed that the number of entry pages into the site from their search results has drastically increased. We added a page for camping supplies that is now our #3 entry page. Great for those businesses listed there. This site is receiving over 35% of its traffic from Yahoo alone. Most all the pages search very well in Yahoo and MSN. The site is #1 on all search engines for Alaska Campgrounds and when the complete updated site for 2005 gets uploaded will then fill over 160 pages of information and growing. Now if more of the campgrounds and RV parks in Alaska would just get a current web site this would be much easier. Many have no web site at all. We mailed out 100 letters ((snail mail ) Dog Sleds in Alaska) for the owners to add their information to this site and hope to get a good response. The intent of the site is solely to promote camping and outdoor recreation as an affordable alternative to staying at home. Once you get out and experience this state, you really appreciate your good fortune of living here.

To answer the question that keeps showing up in posts here, Yes our Yahoo traffic is way up. It’s been increasing all summer and into this fall. MSN traffic is also up and Google has remained steady. This has been noticed on most of our sites. Yahoo and MSN do seen to be gobbling up the acreage on Googles territory. Personally Yahoo has been my homepage for many years now. It’s where I get my mail, read up on current events and shop for Christmas gifts for the family. We use Yahoo maps on most every website we build and have received many favorable responses from visitors for doing so.

As a general comment, I also noticed Yahoo directory listings showing up at Google again. They had disappeared for awhile and are back again.

How about you?
Is your Yahoo traffic moving up?
What do you predict for the future between the big three?
It's all speculation but I sure like what I am seeing.

Hello Max.
Thank you for the reply to this miss placed post.
I actually meant to reply to a one of those post you mention but, in all my excitement, moused over the post new topic link by mistake.

I checked in on another college baseball site we work with to get their webstats and the same drastic increase in Yahoo traffic is present there too.
I was just trying to figure out if this is due to an increase in
1. Yahoo users
2. Result page placement, SERP's
3. A phenomena beyond my limited understanding.

As I am a loyal long time Yahoo user, my excitement is hard to hold in. I have never been a big fan of Google and sense getting into the web design/marketing thing my appreciation of them has greatly diminished.

Way To Go Yahoo

Kind of like an ongoing battle between Bush and Kerry.
Headline:
The polls (webstats) report today that after the last Google algorithm update, webmasters approval has shifted heavily in favor of the challenger Yahoo with the incumbent Google battling it out with the newly revised and improved MSN for a hold upon second place.
I guess this is what I was trying to figure out, and yes this should have been a reply to one of the threads you mention. My mistake. These forums are all still very new to me and make me just a little nervous. Not to say that the people here make me so, everyone has been very open and helpful, just the opposite is true and is the reason I keep coming back every night.
Education is an ongoing endeavor. Where you get that education is a personal matter at best. My thoughts are that with the constant changes we are faced with, there has never been a better campus than these webmaster forums for up to the moment information that is vital to the business at hand.
Untel recently, I diden't even know how to check my webstats. Thanks everyone for the education.
Bob :)

Amazing and very reliefing thing:) Now im not sure if thats because of my SEO ive done on the site, or is it this yahoo change that happened. Anyway, this is great, now i just have to watch what will site stats say.

daemon61,

My guess is that it will be a combination of both factors. Congrats and good luck!

With Yahoo, every move was gradual. It took us a year to work from the outer limits of space to the top of the universe. I like this as we could see the progression and never felt that we were sinners like with some other search engines. One in particular, we started at the top then over night, dropped of the map later to just bounce back and forth for months and now have seem to be in a hold for the time being in the #1 spot. Tomorrow, who knows, this is why we say we are so happy to see so many visitors coming from Yahoo and MSN.
