Yahoo has really got things working on our camping site. I noticed that the number of entry pages into the site from their search results has drastically increased. We added a page for camping supplies that is now our #3 entry page. Great for those businesses listed there. This site is receiving over 35% of its traffic from Yahoo alone. Most all the pages search very well in Yahoo and MSN. The site is #1 on all search engines for Alaska Campgrounds and when the complete updated site for 2005 gets uploaded will then fill over 160 pages of information and growing. Now if more of the campgrounds and RV parks in Alaska would just get a current web site this would be much easier. Many have no web site at all. We mailed out 100 letters ((snail mail ) Dog Sleds in Alaska) for the owners to add their information to this site and hope to get a good response. The intent of the site is solely to promote camping and outdoor recreation as an affordable alternative to staying at home. Once you get out and experience this state, you really appreciate your good fortune of living here.
To answer the question that keeps showing up in posts here, Yes our Yahoo traffic is way up. It’s been increasing all summer and into this fall. MSN traffic is also up and Google has remained steady. This has been noticed on most of our sites. Yahoo and MSN do seen to be gobbling up the acreage on Googles territory. Personally Yahoo has been my homepage for many years now. It’s where I get my mail, read up on current events and shop for Christmas gifts for the family. We use Yahoo maps on most every website we build and have received many favorable responses from visitors for doing so.
As a general comment, I also noticed Yahoo directory listings showing up at Google again. They had disappeared for awhile and are back again.
How about you?
Is your Yahoo traffic moving up?
What do you predict for the future between the big three?
It's all speculation but I sure like what I am seeing.
