I have been researching link directories looking for link exchange partners with google rank of 4 or better. Are there really any quality directories out there?

The best way I have found is to see who is number 1 listed under the key words you wnat to be in and back link them and see who links to them and ask them to link to you OR use ARELIS BUT i find the first way is the best

I agree the list is awesone.
Perhaps my understanding of link exchanges directories is wrong. I thought these directories consisted of member webmasters who specifically want to exchange links. If my understanding is correct, what is the connection of yahoo and dmoz directories as link exchanges directories?

Maybe I miss understood your post ... but never the less this list contains directories where you can list your site for free in most cases and the reciprocal link is optional in a lot of cases as well.
You will find on many boards that they have a section dedicated to link exhange other than that, owning a search network, I have opportunity to see some link exchange sites that may interest you:
http://www.most-relevant-links.com/
http://www.link-exchange.ws/
and you may find some stuff here: http://www.affiliateseeking.com/
anyway, hope that helps!

That is one great list you provided! I know we have submitted to some of the directories but I will forward the list on to Tony, the "Super Submitter", who is also my husband, for his review! Thanks!

I confess it's not a list I compiled. In my stats I noticed hits from various boards that I'm not a memeber of so I went to check it out and much to my most pleasant suprise, we have been included on this list.
I have since copied it to one of my boards as it is massive and does contain a lot of useful information.
I just hope others find it as useful :-)

directories to add to this list ...
The International Directory of Web Hosts (http://www.peak-website-hosting.com/links/page.cgi?d=1)
The World Wide Directory of Ecommerce Solution Providers (http://www.merchant-account-solutions.net/links/page.cgi?d=1)
The International Directory of Web Design & Development Providers (http://temple-templates.com/links/page.cgi?g=&d=1)
There new and we missed the most recent PR update so who knows when they'll get some assigned PR but they are connected to our established sites so at some point they'll be award a 4 at least.

A couple more directories to add to the list:
General Directory (http://www.worldsiteindex.com)
Art Directory (http://www.artweblinks.com)
They are both fairly new so only PR4, but they are SE friendly.
will you add this to the list too? General Directory (http://www.cashwon.com)

hi Marketing MAMA , Basically the internet traffic is came to your site by submit your URL to Open Directory Project sites. But some how thats a good idea. Do you have any other ways beside that.

We have a directory at http://www.4intrepid.com
Just requires a link back to a different site in order to be reviewed (3 way link, so SE's like it a lot more)
PR 5 directory. PR3 and PR2 categories. 2 backlinks/listing (one on the category, one on the info page).
If you add the requested link to your home page, its a free upgrade to a premium listing (top of your chosen category for 1 year).
24 hour (or faster) review time.

wchesser,
I have to agree with you about the directories for link exhanges; I find that many of them go on for pages and pages...realistically no human being could find my website link on their page; so why do a link exchange???? Quality link exchanges are hard to find; I think i have done a decent job with my resource directory and would love to exchange links with you; Here is my info; email me at info[at]arc4life.com (replace [at] with @)if you would like to exchanges links:

The above information is GREAT! Kudos everyone.
I’m adding few to it.
All Links Directory (http://www.all-linksite.com/cgi-bin/links/index.cgi?ID=20353) Well done directory with a PR6 respectable rank. Within hours if submission my site was added.
First Directory (http://www.firstdirectory.org) My site was added very fast and pretty easy. PR5
I’m also following up with my submissions. The above two had my site listed in less then one business day.
I have had some others where I was required to add a reciprocal yet after follow up emails and the passage of time no link appears at their site.
Note: I am not the owner of the above sites.

Here's a recent article I wrote that may be useful:

Jasse I think you are slghtly confused when you said
"I have to agree with you about the directories for link exhanges; I find that many of them go on for pages and pages...realistically no human being could find my website link on their page"
In the case of *most* directories people don't go to the main page and surf down to your category. Most traffic will come from searches either through a completley differnt search engine or the sites search, that end up directly on the page with the information they are searching for.
MarketingMama
10-12-2004, 06:21 PM
To add to that, our search network directory pages are spidered and out on the web including the listings contained within those pages ... a lot of sites listed in our directories/search engine get found this way according to our stats.
I assume link pages/partner pages that contain information on other's sites would be spidered and show results in the same manner thus another important reason for anchor text.

InCrawler (http://www.incrawler.com/) – Free listing with reciprocal link. My site was added promptly.
USA Directory (http://www.usadirectory.biz/) – Free listing with reciprocal link. My site was added promptly.
Favourite Link (http://www.favouritelink.com/click.php?n=6957) - Free listing with reciprocal link. My listing from this directory is showing up as a backlink in Google.
I was thinking of calling out a few undesirable directories but that is not in the spirit of this thread. By undesirable they make you link to them then never add my site or take it off in time or put me on a spam list that seems to never end. I even found one that does not include the sites listings in its own search results, only pay per click ads. All the ones I have posted including the three above I can recommend without reservation.

We have been trying to maintain, PR4 min, free submissions and those that don't require reciprocal links as much as possible in that other thread.
You will also find I just started a women and minority business section, if Simon didn't already have that category going.
Please note the general concensus throughout many threads that:
"Organic" links are best, Google seems to place less importance on reciprocal links as of recent.
